Do you just want a car? Or do you want a crossover SUV, van, big SUV. Explain what you want first and what options you need, manual or automatic,ect....

It's amazing to me that people buy new but I guess someone has to be the sucka so the rest of us can benefit. Why would you buy something that immediately plummets in value the second you own it instead of something you can turn around and sell for similar value if you're unhappy with it?

JJ with a sharp post if you do your part and take care of oil change etc she'll last forever. 40$ bucks to fill up even at 4.15 a gallon.

My thought exactly. To paraphrase an old NBC tagline, the used car is new to you.

I sold cars and never did I sell someone a used car that wouldn't lose at least 2 to 3 grand if they tried to get rid of it right after I sold it to them. Sometimes new is the way to go trust me. A new car with an msrp of 24K will lose plenty of value right after driving it off the lot, the key is to buy that 24K msrp car for 19000 and then you end up with a better deal than used. When the incentives are right with rebates and dealer cash you can get a new car cheap.

There was an article recently on yahoo finance about the inversion of pricing currently making new an attractive option (particularly if you have good credit). Not saying its always or even often a good idea but domestic cars and smaller sedans are damn cheap right now.

Honda is a good reliable car but get something with a little more style. You don't want to have what every 16 year old girl has do you? Get a nice little used C class or Audi TT.. You can get a good one that has been taken care of with low miles for a good deal if you look hard enough.

For a brand new spanking car, I'd go with a the 2011 Jeep Compass for around 16-17k. Plus you get about 28 highway miles on it. Down side, it's only 158-172 Horse power.
