When will it end with this guy? Why are we paying religious people attention still?

Sorry, but where do we draw the line when it comes to people and their fairy tales?
He uses math contained within the bible and incorrectly predicted a date. Others believe in a talking snake, a 600 year old boat builder, virgin births etc.
People used their religion to justify everything from violence to discrimination.
Yeah, what a yahoo that one guy was.

And those same yahoos believe you're a yahoo for thinking the way you do. An eye for an eye would leave us all blind.

An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. Mahatma Gandhi, (attributed) Indian political and spiritual leader (1869 - 1948)

LOL - maybe I didn't convey my response correctly.
Indeed an eye for an eye is a bad idea. I was pointing out that the basis for the expression came from the bible.
Sorry, but it's not a big leap from fishes & loaves, the talking donkey/ass/snake, the ark, the resurrection et al to this Camping guy making his prediction.

Click his link. "Eye for an eye" came from Old Testament law in the Book of Mathew.

It is great that we all are entitled to our opinions. You have yours, I have mine, he has his, the problem and the topic of discussion is why his is getting so much airtime when he keeps burying his head in the sand.

Look how much time/bandwidth has been spent in the last year on
The Westboro clowns (watch a doc on them to realize how small they are)
The Florida church guy who was going to burn a koran
This Camping guy
Wait until next year...oh man. In 1999 a lot of people still weren't online and Y2K dominated the panic patrol. 2012, everyone is online.
Need to formulate a plan on how to cash in on these doomsday folks.
If the rapture does come, my stock in placards is going to tank bigtime.

I am aware of that, I was unaware at the time and it isn't where I remembered it from. The statement is true regardless.

Muldoon -
He makes me think of another quote that's fitting seeing as how some of us fail to read outside of huffingtonpost.com talking points and breaking news - Before we work on artificial intelligence, we should first win the battle with natural stupidity

To me, he's no more clownish than Pat Robertson, Louis Farrakhan, or the folks who removed Hillary from the photo because it would offend their readers.
Sorry if I dragged the topic away from you singling out this one "clown".
To me, he's just part of the circus.

Sorry, that's a huge leap. Even biblical literalists who believe in all that insanity aren't as dumb as this guy.
He basically took his extremely dubious date for the Flood (which almost certainly never happened) and then added to it numbers from Hebrew numerology. He got all the meanings of the numbers right, but even the people who believe in the numerology take it as kind of a superstition, like horoscopes. He applied that stuff extremely literally, and the order of operations was absolutely arbitrary. It has zero to do with the bible, and even less to do with Jesus.
I'm amazed he even got followers from the religious crowd. People just seem to really hate their lives and want the world to end.
To say it's not a big leap from Christianity to this kind of stupidity or other violent and stupid acts is a fallacy. That's like when people say it's not a big leap from Atheism to eugenics and state-as-religion totalitarianism. Maybe it's just a little hop from some Old Testament passages, but between "do unto others" and "none shall know the hour of my coming" and Harold Camping and the Crusades is a chasm.
Walter forgot... when you're desperate's when you got no choice.

This isnt even the first time this guy has been wrong - I thought he originally predicted the world to end sometime in September 1994 ?
If he carries on picking random days for the world to end like he is currently doing then he is gonna end up with a worse losing record than jjgold !!!

My views of religion have nothing to do with this wacko but I still think religion is crazy talk... I believe in science.
