i dont think it gives u a better chance to win, and i actually think if u lose after over analzying so much i think it puts most people on tilt since they feel they try so hard to win and still lose and wind up chasing or making a bad move. no more than 20 minutes handicapping imo. dont worry jj whatever side u pick the other side will win

With all the statistical software out there, especially when it comes to baseball...you shouldn't have to spend that long capping a game.

if you spend 8 hours studying a game you are probably going to second guess yourself and end up on the wrong side of the bet most the time. you have 8 hours of convincing yourself that your great pick isnt so great...

jj i swear, this is 100% true what i say now.
a friend of mine is not a gambler, but he knows his baseball more than anyone i have ever met. he is mr baseball. knows every stat possible.
every night when he calls me and i tell him i lost this game, he'd alwys second guess me and say, how can you bet on phillies, they are terrible on the road.. he alwys tells me this after the fact, which is always easy..
he always tells me after every loss, how can you bet the giants, Zito is horrible, you should know that, and makes me feel like an idiot.
so 2 weeks ago, he tells me if he bet totals, he would be retired. so i gave him the totals on every game every day. i swear, up til now, he is 78-98, down 27 units.. he loses everyday practically, and he knows every stat..
today, he threw in the towel telling me, nicky, you are right, it's impossible to predict this stuff. he'd go under 7.5 on 2 great pitchers, 10-9 final. he'd bet over 2 shitty pitchers, 1-0 final.
i used to always tell him, Tim, the more you know, the less successful you are.. and he used to think i was crazy.. now, he repeats these words everyday to me and says, i was bang on. this stuff is impossible to predict, jj.

You don't want to overanalyze; 8 hrs is overanalyzing.
Better to have systems in place that don't take much time to cap on a game by game basis. The time goes into developing those systems.

Simple phrase I learned many years ago from a very good capper.
"Study long, study wrong"

If you study for 8 hours you are wasting your day. Imagine how a person would feel when they look at a game for 8 hours and lose and then look at someone that had some beers and picked a game and got it right.Hopefully they would see that there is no point in doing it
Best thing to do is to bet in-running and watch the game and figure out which team the refs have or which team the league wants to win and then bet that. You would have a better chance of winning if you did things that way.
