Can You Literally See a Bad Beat Coming?
    I think you can.

Tonight, I have the Dodgers-White Sox Under 8. 5 runs by the 2nd inning. I say, okay this is a loser - shit happens. Scoreless until the 9th with two outs. Little bit of excitement, but still some hesitance. Sure enough, next batter - Ding Dong and it's 3-3. No way it'll finish 4-3 or even 5-3 and sure enough, LA three & counting in the 10th. It's like watching a train wreck without the satisfaction of hearing the wreck.

I don't expect to lose, but this game was a classic example. I gave up early because of the early scoring. Checked back in periodically and lots of donuts. Ahhh, surely they'll give a few up in the middle innings. Well then they get to the 8th and a bases loaded spot results in no runs. That's when that belief creeps in. "Well shit, maybe they can make it." Then I return to peek in at 3-2 with two outs in the Top of the 9th. Dodgers backup 3B Mitchell hits a dong. He has TWO hits in 16 ABs this season and is 1/11 in his last few games. He goes deep. That is classic.

Seriously though if I had won 2 or 3 bets in a row, I would never have even thought about this. But lost my last couple and the early runs just reinforced that I am a jagoff.

Hope to God my girlfriend is going to be Bad Beat #2 tonight. I need some action and a WIN.

It happens to me in football a lot. Last two minutes of a game are the most stressful.

Just like poker. Guy is dominated and you KNOW that two-outter is coming on the river.

Bad beat is not a term exclusively applied to poker.
Matter of fact, bad beat is not a term exclusive just to sports either.

I was on the wrong end of the Dallas-Portland game 4. Dallas up 67-49 starting the 4th, I watched as Portland put up 35 and Dallas mustered a lowsy 15 points in the 4th quarter.

Shame on me I guess, I had Dallas on the ML, they were getting 4 or 5 points. Guess I should have taken the points.

                              That one just stands out.

hate when shit like that happens. but just the opposite is happening to me. my bets are not even close. teams i have been picking have been losing by 4 + runs. i have actually taken a break from wagering its that bad.

If one has been doing it long enough, one can see it coming by the flow of the game.
