there are some worse facilities than suffolk agreed but not many...they don't have to worry about the 2.20 show because a bridge jumper wouldn't have the nerve to play one of their steeds to make a lousy instant 10% profit...the cheap claimers from tampa bay won't even come back...

The place was great for the BC, looked like Bristol for NASCAR, grandstands all the way around the facility, including backstretch. Packed in close to a 100,000 for race day. Wasn't cheap to get in. They sold barstool seats around the bar in the simulcast building for 500.00 a pop.

Suffolk cancels Wednesday's card due to "not enough entries" - only the third card and we get this

Citing an insufficient number of entries, Suffolk Downs has canceled the Wednesday, May 25 live racing card. The day will be restored at a date to be determined later in the meet.

“While we have over 600 horses at the facility, the weather of the last few weeks has interrupted training and, in turn, put a strain on entries,” said Suffolk Downs’ chief operating officer Chip Tuttle. “We anticipate that things will pick up over the next several days and we can resume racing as scheduled.”

The Wednesday session would have been the third day of racing for the meet that is scheduled to go 80 days. Last winter, the track had been involved with a long and bitter dispute with horsemen over the amount of purses to be paid, the split of simulcasting revenue, and the number of days in the meet. State statute requires 100 days of live racing and the parties agreed on 80 days, with the caveat the state statute must be revised.

Don't think they'll last more than another year or so.

takeout then average field size is the criteria I use to evaluate a meet.
