Pretty much everyone on food stamps does this, just not on this huge a scale.

if on public assistance should you even be permitted to buy a lotto ticket? isn't this the market the lotto prays on? if so and the person does / can buy a ticket with cash, not stamps then all back assistance monies should be paid as if it were a loan. taxes, then arrears monies, then net to the lucky winner.
on another thought it could also be thought that he's merely getting a rebate on the milion + in taxes he paid.

I read that 0ver 90% of lottery winners are broke within 5 years.
Plus, the have hardly any friends left because once the friend spends the money you give them and they come back asking for more only to get denied, feelings are hurt.
I saw a 20/20 show a long time ago. 10 Lottery winners the all the said the same thing .... I wish I never won the lottery.
Chance are, this guy will need food stamps for real sometime in the not too distant future.

I work in welfare. He would be eligible in any state.
Food stamp eligibility doesn't have an asset test. The month you hit the lottery, he would get no food stamps because it would be considered income. After that month, it would count as an asset, and wouldn't count against him.
You could have Bill Gates' bank account, but it wont matter as long as you only have ttwarrior's income.
Its another reason most states are broke.Comment
