One of the reasons I think the Sox will be searching for pitching because all they can rely on right now is Lester and Beckett, and that's a stretch as Beckett has been on the slide. Lackey, Dice-K, and Bucholz have been mediocre at best.
Jeter getting $15 million a year is a joke...I agree. Brian Cashman in my opinion is one of the worst GM's in baseball. For a guy who's got a fat checkbook, his decisions have been gross. Rafael Soriano has been horrible, AJ Burnett has been bad, he signs the Met's garbage Feliciano who won't even pitch this year and probably again, and wiffs on Cliff Lee, etc. He signs Bartolo "320" Colon and Freddie Garcia off the scrap heap to hopefully fill a spot, and he says he's always looking. As a Yankee fan for a long time, I've zero confidence in his direction.Comment -
When Jeter asked for 15 million a real GM should have given him the finger and told him which way the door was. Yankee fans are loyal but that's horrible for business and the true Yankee fans would have understood.
Think about this. Would you rather have Cliff Lee for 20 million or even 25 million per year or worthless Jeter for 15 million and Bartolo Colon or some other has been like Freddy Garcia for 5? Horrible return on investment.
If Jeter was playing left field for the Tigers this year, do you think any Yankees fans would really care? Maybe at first but when Jeter ends up hitting .265 with 10 home runs nobody would care. Now they are paying that washed up bum 15 million per year unless he retires.Comment -
