What are your thoughts on Pete Rose? Hall of Fame or not? Was what he did that bad? Is he worse than the Steroid users ( 1/2 the league?) Did you like him as a player?
How do you guys feel about Pete Rose?

#2I still think Rose is one of the best ballplayers to ever lace them up. I haven't been keeping up with the whole gambling thing the past few years, but last I knew he wasn't gambling on baseball while he was playing...only managing. I also believe that he never bet against his own team. Let him in the Hall of Fame, he's paid his dues and admitted his mistakes. I know the Golden Rule in baseball is no gambling...but there is no way that betting can be as worse as taking steroids. Steroids effectively changed the outcome of games and seasons, while Rose's bets didn't effect the game he was involved in, especially since he never bet against the Reds (unless he bet totals, then he could have pulled some funny business)Comment -

#3He seems like the type of guy that would be a blast to have a few beers with.
The numbers speak for themselves, dude played hard, so I would vote him in.
As for the gambling, well it is what it is.
Off the wall question for a bookie, would any bookie take bets of a coach betting against his own team?Comment -

#4Gambling could change the outcome of games even if you bet on your own team.
What if he only bet on his team on certain days and his team is down 5-1 but he wastes his best pitchers trying to keep it close at all costs and win what might be a lost cause, and he ends up burning out his bullpen for the next night when he's actually up 3-2 and really needs to protect that lead?Comment -

#6Nah don't think he deserves to be in the hall...he broke the rules simple as that. We've gotta make an example out of someone.Comment -

#7Does it matter how much he bet?
Like if he bet 100 bucks per game is it different than if he was betting 50,000 per game? I doubt the guy was betting anything less than a dime. So for everybody that says let him in... what if you found out he was betting 10,000 to 50,000 per game on select nights?Comment -

#10I just love when sports writers and regular people are so appalled that he bet on games... Oh no, he's BAD, HE BET ON GAMES. Then they go doctor up their free Fantasy baseball team and get off their soapbox. Those sports writers have no clue that 1/2 of America bets on NFL.Comment -

#11He denied that he bet on games for a long time even though it was evident that he did bet on games. Just recently he admitted it and was repentant about it. I think that is what the powers that be were looking for. Some time will pass and he eventually will be in the hall where in my opinion he does belong.Comment -
