    Being selective
How much better would you be as a gambler if you didn't bet the board? I always have a play or two I like more than the others every night, but I'm such an action junkie that I can't just stick to a small number of bets. I often wonder where my bankroll would be if I could just be disciplined and make 1-3 bets a night vs. getting trigger happy with multiple sports, live plays, half plays, FF's, etc.

Anyone else have this problem? Because I firmly believe the more bets you make, the closer to .500 (or worse) you get. Yet here I am, with a list of games a mile long I'm considering for tonight.

If you think you have an edge or whatever you want to call it, it does not matter if its one game or 10 games.

being selective is the only way to beat books....if you are selective you can 75% easily. I am talking about 4-5 picks per week. It comes to around 240 picks a year..imagine if you can hit 75% on those...and yes you can do it easily. People here just dont have the discipline to do it...most are action junkies...try to double up etc... 99% of the SBR folks have no idea about bankroll management either. Thats why books are always profitable.

1-3 picks is all I do. Usually just one play big. Easiest way to make money for me is to take one play. Instead of having a grand or two out there on 8 plays why not just throw that on the best play?

Most of us are action junkies. It doesn't matter if you've had a good or bad day. Somehow, you'll convince yourself to make one more bet. On a Saturday afternoon in the Fall, one could go 3 and 0 and be up huge, but it's never enough. Why can't we just walk away? No, we'll reason that since we're up with "house money" we can afford to bet again. On the flip side, if we go 0 and 3 we just have to chase regardless the consequences.

It comes down to greed, plain and simple. Once we learn to walk away, we'll all be much better off in our gambling lives.

99% of the people here would profit if they just slammed the games they really like and completely eliminated their marginal picks

your biggest advantage over the books is they have to gamble on every game. You don't.

what if i like five bets one day and maybe one bet the next?? does it mean i pick one out of five maybe the only loser and just stick to the one the next day? why take a shot at only one when you think you have 3-4 winners. trick is not reading any bias people (sbr etc.) before you do all your research.

bottomline is if you know how to pick winners, doesnt matter how many games you bet.

Selectiveness has nothing to do with it. If you are good at what you do and believe a play is solid than you bet it.

Try going 10-2 and see where it gets you.

I don't try to go 10-2... thats not the point. If you believe something is soldi you should play it... whether it be 12 plays a day or 2. Problem is most people have no idea what they're doing.

I usually bet 5 picks a day or so. I always lose on the last pick or second last pick because i get greedy to win more money which kinda cuts into my profit. But i agree with being selective, if u can go through a day with 7+ games and not make a play. You're on the right track.

I've realized that the more experience i gain betting, the more capable i become of picking the right spots and avoiding chase/sucker bets.
