K-Rod's contract, I mean is this crazy shit standard in baseball?
He gets an additional 17 1/2 million next year for completing 55 games this year, but in a tie game like this he finished the 9th and avoided the loss sending it to extra innings but now he wont complete the game. I mean what a weird contract that is, it oughta be complete the 9th inning or something for a closer, they're basically payin him 17 1/2 million to give up a run in tie games and complete the game

You could also argue they can just use a different pitcher since the Mets suck anyway and K-Rods razorsharp days are behind him and prevent him from completing the 55 and save 17 1/2 mil, just a strange contract imo but maybe this is standard stuff in MLB

You're telling half the story. The 17.5 mil is for his option year locking in next year if he finishes the games....not just a bonus.

And yea there's all kinds of different stuff like that....closers have weird sh1t but it's only cuz their shelf life is so short

Okay true I called it a bonus but seriously it has the effect of a bonus, I mean aint nobody payin his ass 17.5, would be lucky to get 7 without this clause, consider it a 10 mil bonus, on top of that this clause makes it impossible to trade him

i wouldn't say it's "standard", "normal", or "typical".

all kinds of incentives in contracts, but that one is extreme.

                            K-Fraud isn't worth 17 1/2 dollars much less 17 1/2 million.
