Of course, in a competition like this, there's about a 0% chance of picking the final four correctly. In a just world, these would be the final 4. However, 7 picks over 5 days is going to yield some unlikely results.

Exactly. With such a miniscule sample size, winning basically amounts to a combination of luck/variance, which is why I find some of the posts that involve certain posters looking ahead to Sweet 16 and beyond matchups so comical.
If there were in fact odds on each matchup, I'd take the + money on every single match, as 7 games isn't nearly large enough of a sample size to garner any worthwhile conslusions as to the handicapping abilities (or lack thereof) of participants.
This will be a fun contest, but the results don't really mean anything (although there's a good chance the eventual winner will feel otherwise).

the results mean everything. if you lose in round 1 you stink, if you win it all you should have your own web site.

Couldn't have said it better. And yes, if we get odds put up, I'm on the + money on every single matchup. Also worth noting: there are two camps of posters around here. On one hand, we have the "HEY, LOOK AT ME! I'M WINNING!!!" crowd and on the other we have the "All in a day's work" folks. Let me just say that I hope someone from the latter group wins.
Rule of thumb: If someone refers to him/herself in the 3rd person on even a semi-regular basis, chances are that I'm not a fan of that person.

whatever member wins this deserves mega respect... it's probably not a fluke if you make the finals let alone win the whole thing

Some skill is involved, sure. But I'd say the luck/talent ratio for the winner will be weighed heavily toward "luck".

id say luckiest part revolve around who gets to advance with a -3.24 unit week while someone else loses at +3.50.

I agree that it will generally be luck-of-the-draw. But at the same time, the two finalists, and probably all of the final 4 will most likely end up with a very nice +unit number when all is said and done. It's not like somebodies going to win this thing after a terrible month of capping.

You might want to edit that jackpot...running cold as ice and have a lethal Arnold in the first round.
