Compter Savvy People: Question about Microphone

For some reason whether I have my microphone plugged in or not, when I hit record on my computer there is this loud tapping noise... I'm trying to get my mike to work so I can record some stuff. What might the problem be?

Sounds like you have some kind of "metronome" function enabled. I'd look into that first.

Go to control panel/sounds and devices/audio/click volume under sound recording/options/properties make sure recording is selected then put check in microphone and line then when you see recording control select microphone
