    Rudy's Thoughts (x-post)
*meant to post this in Players Talk but must have been in saloon when I hit enter. directly related to sports/gambling and this area receives 10x the traffic

I hate to say it, but it looks over from where I stand. Pokerstars said they'd have more info Monday or Tuesday but what can they really do? Almost all counts are directly related to UIGEA, but even if they win those, oh yea there was money laundering and fraud. Doubt they have any chance to get out of that. For now Wynn has also dropped ties with Pokerstars and I highly doubt we see stars or tilt in america. Only thing to do now is wait for your state to open legalized poker, which might not take very long.

    On Sportsbetting:

No, the DoJ is not going after sports betting "next". They have been going after all of them at the same time. This is nothing new and while poker fit in that grey area, noone has mentioned sportsbetting fitting into it. Add the fact all sportsbooks offer online casinos, and yes they are clearly breaking the law. The only difference is sportsbetting has not had someone get caught that can give all this information on processors out (and my guess is they won't since all of them clearly know NOT to step foot in US). Your funds are just as safe today at 5dimes as they were a week ago. If you are panicking now, you should have been the last 4 years.

    On SBR and other affiliates:

It is absolutely ridiculous for these forums to block out words like (echekz) and (ewalletxprezz)...[spelled wrong so you know which im talking about]. Do you guys not realize it takes all of 1 minute to go to a sportsbook and realize these options are available? I mean specific bank names on a check should clearly not be allowed, but this info is readily available on every sportsbook website. I realize the US Govt is not very smart, but commonnn they can figure out how to type www.bookmaker.com in a search engine and see which deposit/withdrawal choices are available. Its not like its a secret hand shake or something. The DoJ only has to go to 5dimes chat to see which gift cards are allowed, so why you are acting so "slyly" on a forum makes no sense to me.

    On the future:

Poker will be legalized in America soon. If the DoJ catches someone involved with sportsbetting, expect similar shut downs. Nothing should seem surprising. In the very far future when we are in even more debt, I imagine online sports betting will become legal and SBR will need to open a www.ussbr.com website (hmm maybe i should buy that link now and sell it to them later for $1mil)

    On myself:

    Buried and out of commission

Good stuff there and your perspective seems reasonable. It's just as likely to be true as any other poster's current belief. Time will tell.

We'll See. I suspect moderate consequences if online gambling becomes legal (either poker or sports betting)...most just don't have the discipline when it comes to managing their money and credit.

Don't get me wrong. I am all for it, I would like them to legalize ALL drugs as well. But its the way I see it.

There more to it that simply knowing they have individuals who send and receive moneygrams or buy and sell travel vouchers/phone cards for casino credits. The individual they caught was basically the mastermind behind the ecommerce/fraud poker sites used. Their informer invented it and educated these poker sites about how to receive, send, and lauder money despite the 2006 law.
