apparently the fox news analyst says he expects american players to get stiffed by the sites. i see that tom dwan has guaranteed full tilt and stars money for 95 cents on the dollar, as opposed to cereus at 40 cents LMAO.

Man, I am hoping the same things doesn't happen to the sportsbooks. I bet they stop using some deposit methods they currently are.

What i don't understand is why wouldn't one of the big boys Full Tilt/PS step up and say we want to do this and want to do it the right way..... i can't believe they want to dismiss the US as a whole and the amount of revenue that could be gained by being the first.

Tom Dwan's net worth is around 5 million, that means he could cover prolly 5 bucks for each player on pokerstars (if that), Im sure there are at least a million players on pokerstars as they never seem to have less than 200k online at any time.

If I played online poker I'd take the 95% and run, 5% loss of your balance right now is about equal to the interest you would earn on it after a year or whenever FT or Pokerstars finds a way to pay and thats IF they find a way to pay, considering 75 bank accounts have been frozen in 14 different countries and they are being arrested and sued for 3 billion that's a considerable IF

i must've missed the part where dwan GUARANTEED anything. i saw he said there was a less than 10% chance of full tilt not paying and he assumed it was the same for pokerstars.

not sure how i could do a person-person transfer to get 95% since those are blocked for us residents

ok....here is what i know...i play at UB. and so far i can still play.. i am ahead in money but havent cashed out yet. Now, I was having connection problems with my wi fi the other day and I was in the final throws of a nice tourney so I went to my main computer to see about using that one.....I didnt have UB loaded on that computer yet, but when i tried to load it i was informed that the site had been siezed by the FBI and was now illegal in the USA, I went to a number of sites till I found one that would work and I was able to download it. I'm in Canada so the FBI's stand shouldnt effect me. Today I will try to withdraw some money and see what happens and post it on a new thread when I get the results.

                        PS
I came in second when my pocket aces got flushed away and won $350.00.
                        I'll see what happens

I'm still waiting on my $7 withdrawal from Pokerstars by Moneybookers that I made Sunday. Didn't even know I had money in there. Would hate to get stiffed.
Seriously though, I hope everything goes smoothly for those of you who have US-based accounts. I know a few people with large balances with either PS or FT and they are very nervous.

These sites knew they were operating here illegally...they now put players monies in jeopardy....and it all came down to greed...cause if they revealed the fkin risks..people would of known.

Because U.S. banks and CC issuers were largely
unwilling to process their payments, the Poker Companies

PokerStars, RAYMOND BITAR and NELSON BURTNICK of Full Tilt Poker,
and SCOTT TOM and BRENT BECKLEY of Absolute Poker, arranged for
the money received from U.S. gamblers to be disguised as payments
to hundreds of non-existent online merchants purporting to sell
merchandise such as jewelry and golf balls. Of

"In fact, this office expects the companies to return the money that U.S. players entrusted to them, and we will work with the poker companies to facilitate the return of funds to players," Bharara said in a statement.

in other words the u.s. government will know exactly how much you received from a foreign entity. anyone not filing a fbar for amounts over $10,000 OR not claiming gambling winnings is committing a felony.

and yes every time you win a $10 pot that's winnings and you need to itemize your deductions to offset any losses.

The Complaint, a related Indictment, and a related Restraining Order issued against multiple bank accounts utilized by the companies and their payment processors do not prohibit the companies from refunding players’ money. Nevertheless, this agreement will facilitate the return of money so that players can register their refund requests directly with Pokerstars and Full Tilt Poker.
