The end doesn't justify the means as far as the Patriots go. This reflects poorly on the entire organization, Brady included. I thought that Belichick should have gotten suspended. This story has gotten a little out of control though, there is nothing more to talk about.Comment -

I usually turn the channel when anything related to this story is brought up. It sort of reminds me of the Barry Bonds story. Its extremely straight-forward yet gets publicity every day. I love it when people say brady cheated and he should hang it up. WTF Look nobody hates New Eggland more than me believe me. Brady may of had the knowledge of which defense to expect but the guy still has to execute the play. I know it is a lot easier to do when you know what to expect however I would think that a team would recognize when their signals where stolen and adjust accordingly. Each team should go into a game expecting for the other team to be recording their defensive signals and if they didn't then they were not doing their jobs in preparation.
As it stands now the only team that is on record as known cheaters are the Patriots. They got a slap on the wrist with the draft pick and a couple of bucks out of there pocket. The real tradegy is they didn't get much of a penalty and it will not discourage anyone else from doing the same thing in the future.
It was poetic justice seeing the Giants kick their asses in the super bowl so maybe in the end everything does come around to get you in the end.Comment -

This has to be one of the most retarded threads ever. Tom Brady was not the one taping signals. He was merely taking playcalls from the sidelines. I'm really not sure how much culpability he has in this affair. Not much if you ask me. People have been stealing signals since signals were invented. There have been many teams that have been accused of it and some that have admitted to it in sports. Does the shot heard around the world ring a bell? Give them some sort of trivial punishment and put the organization on probation for an extended time. Eighteen years ago a scout for the Chiefs told me what they did, and he said what you need to do is just take your camera and you go and zoom in on the signal caller and that way you can sync it up. The problem is that if they’re not on the press box side you can’t do it from the press box, you have to do it from the sideline. This was 18 years ago.

JJ: No, no, I said it on the show. He was wrong for doing it for the simple reason that the league knew this was going on not just in New England but around the league. And the league sent out the memorandum to all of the teams saying you cannot do this. And so that’s when Bill Belichick was wrong. After he got the memorandum saying don’t do it any more, he did it.
Q: Did you ever steal signals?
JJ: Oh in a heartbeat, yeah. Yes I did.
Q: Via video, Jimmy? Or no?
JJ: Oh yeah, I did it with video and so did a lot of other teams in the league. Just to make sure that you could study it and take your time, because you’re going to play the other team the second time around. But a lot of coaches did it, this was commonplace.
Q: But did you do it by taping the signal caller?
JJ: Yeah.

JJ: That’s what I’m saying. I was saying one of Marty Schottenheimer’s scouts, Mark Hatley, who has passed away now, Mark told me that’s how they did it, and Howard Mudd their offensive line coach with Kansas City, who now coaches for Tony Dungy, he was the best in the entire league at stealing signals.
Q: Where’d you put your guy who was videotaping? Where was he?
JJ: My guy was up with my camera crew in the press box. So you’d just put an extra camera up with your camera crew in the press box who zoomed in on the signal callers. That’s the best way to do it, but anyway you can’t always do that because the press box camera crew might be on the same side as the opposing team. If they’re on the same side as the opposing team that’s when you need to do it from the sideline.Comment -

Johnson has aired these comments out a few times, and nobody rips him apart for any lack of integrity etc. He also made mention of all the teams doing things like this. ESPN just needs someone to hone in on and make a spectacle of, they've chosen the Pats. Signal stealing has always went on in pro sports. Every team has dirty tricks. Just like some teams pipe in artificial crowd noise, and have even had that skip occasionally, such as Saint Dungy who plays off his public image to a tee.
