Billy Donovan suspends Erik Murphy, Cody Larson following arrests
Florida basketball coach Billy Donovan has suspended Erik Murphy and Cody Larson from the team in the wake of their arrests for felony burglary. Police apprehended those two and an alleged team manager after they tried to break into a car in St. Augustine on Sunday.
“I’m aware of Cody and Erik’s situation and very disappointed with the news,” Donovan said in a statement released by the University Athletic Association. “The two are currently suspended from basketball-related activities. I’m not going to comment further until I have more information and get a chance to meet with both student-athletes.”
Murphy, a sophomore, averaged 10.8 minutes and 4.3 points while playing every game for the Gators last year. Larson red-shirted and will be a freshman in the upcoming season.
