Attention: 200 points plus all my points for a year if you can get this to work.
Due to being barreled in I opted to buy this phone.

I had to lay out $200.00 and I now pay $45.00 per month for EVERYTHING UNLIMITED. The model of the phone is the Nokia 6970 and it runs on the "Straight Talk" network. I would like the the "Access point" setting for the straight talk network (it is not att.movi for the e71).

    Here is a screen shot

So if anybody can tell me how to retrieve the setting from my phone or you work for Straight Talk (Tracfone) chime in.

Additional Info: The screenshot of the access point jpg is from the Nokia Ovi Suite. I assume if I can figure how the phone connects to the internet I can connect through my PC via this application.

Simple. Think I could get the answer without providing my name and number I have literally read about 400 posts on the geek forums trying to get this thing to work. Tethering is a big no-no, I would to have a reason why I am asking them the question.

very helpful. can you pm me the webpage?

I inputed those setting both for wap as well as internet access points however I am still not able to connect through the ovi suite program on the PC.

I will make a video tomorrow showing you exactly what I did. If you get this to work I will live up to the agreement.

I'll have to try to find the forum again. I looked at quite a few and it seems the guy who owns Tracfone is pretty hardcore about shutting down ways to tether.

And don't be silly about the points. You gave me something to do earlier when I needed a break from work so that's more than thanks enough.

I'll PM it if I can find it again and if I see anything else that may work I'll post it in here.

Just a bit more information which suggest that the info provided may not work. When I attempted to call up the internet via the phone it didn't work. As you recall, I made the access point we created (priority 1). Of coarse, I reverted back the settings.

Logic tells me to try to see their "settings" for the service that is used to call up the internet. There are two choice Internet- "Tracfone Internet" and WAP services "Tracfone Browser" both of which are protected from view

That phone is crap. If you just recently bought it, you should return it. If you need to be on a prepaid service, there are much better phones out there on other prepaid carries. For example, on Virgin Mobile, they have the LG Optimus V for $200 and it runs Android 2.2. The Android phones are really simple to tether with a USB cable or wireless tether by making the phone a hot spot. On Virgin, you can get 1200 minutes and unlimited text and data for $40 a month.

I could also find you other phones too. The bottom line is your Nokia phone is running a really outdated operating system and is not worth $200. The only reason people are buying the Nokia phones on Straight Talk is for the sim card so they can use an iPhone.

If you really insist on keeping it, tomorrow I can try to find some information to help you. I know you can create a hot spot with the Nokia E71 but you cannot with your phone as it does not have wifi.

                                                  EI,

I cannot find the info to tether with the 6790. It seems to me they did a good job locking that phone down to prevent tethering. If someone has found a way to tether undetected, I cannot find the info.

If you need to keep Straight Talk because of coverage, which uses AT&T for smartphones, I would get the E71 so you can easily tether. You can use Joikuspot to make the phone a wireless hot spot. With the E71, you would also have a good sim card to be able to switch to a better phone in the future. It seems people are getting a lot of the AT&T smartphones working fine on Straight Talk. Besides the iPhone 4, people are also getting the newest AT&T Android phones working as well. Hopefully, when you are ready to upgrade, you will be still be able to do the E71 sim card trick to use a better phone.

If you are up for some reading and possibly have additional questions, you could go to Straight Talk section at HowardForums. You will find a lot of useful information about Straight Talk.

                                                  Hope this helps
