Big Z, in my opinion was never an ace. He always had a high WHIP, and strike outs really saved him. Combine that with his emotional problems, you are not going to be an effective pitcher.

I wouldn't consider a high 3 ERA, an Ace pitcher in the NL. He is a serviceable guy, in a perfect world a number 3 pitcher at best. If he is the Ace of your staff, your pitching is going to struggle. He averages around 6 innings per outting. c.lee has almost 1.5 innings better.
