dude ur an idiot. how is he gonna become a global icon without winning any rings? hes not even the most popular nba star, that is still kobe. KOBE is the international ICON. the dude speaks 3 languages, is very popular in china, and HAS MANY MANY RINGS.

u think jordan or kobe is where they are today if they never won a ring? ur argument is stupid and makes NO SENSE.
every owner in the nba wants to win the title because u get playoff revenue, tickets, tv deals, merchandise, its all about cash. they know winning a title will make them and their team worth more $$$$$
if lebron wanted to be a billionaire, dont u think winning a title would make his brand better? more respected? more legit? dont u think he could make more money off of being an NBA champion than without it? wouldnt it be a lot easier to charge more for his name if he had a ring?
i mean ur not even being logical, its plain stupid what u are saying. lebron is famous because hes a NBA baller, y the hell would he not want the highest reward in the game?

lol comparing different era's of ball. Its fruitless. Kobe will go down as one of the greatest ever to play the game, period. He may or may not be one, but your opinion as well as mind means little. All that matters is that from here forward the media will give Kobe the Jordan treatment and cement his legacy. Like it or not guys, its true.

Kobe best closer in the game, hands down. Closing isn't just about making shots. Ever heard of clock management, defense, leadership, etc. newbie bull?

Not to mention at the end of the game they double Kobe. What do teams do vs Lebronze? They give him room so he will take the three cause they know he will miss.

its not just about stats. you talk about playoff numbers. did you know tracy mcgrady is (statistically) probably the 2nd or 3rd greatest playoff performer in nba history? The guy never got out of the first round, but stats show he is top 5 playoff performer of all time.

hmmmm.....okay, i may have stretched it there with how I had written it but player by player I'd take kobe over jordan any day. When you take into account the talent and players in the game, I think kobe > jordan. I've seen enough of both players in my life to formulate this judgment....others may disagree but starting off a thread by saying kobe is overrated is just idiocy imo.

                              lol how u been hawley?

i've been good....busy and all but so far killing the sony ericsson tourney, yet to lose a game but clijsters made me sweat like crazy and made a miraculous comeback from 5-1 down in 3rd set to beat ivanovic (had a lot riding on that one). Now sharapova is making me sweat like crazy after losing first set but she is up in 2nd set...playing horribly and I have close to 4.5k on this one, so pray she comes through.

man, you're telling me...I'd figure she would show up considering she has a pretty good draw now, with wozniacki and jankovic getting out (and clijsters going through a tough one against ivanovic which I won 1k on in a miraculous comeback down 5-1 in 3rd set). But boy oh boy, sharapova is really lucky to have won the 2nd set and now they're in the 3rd. She's having a horrible serving day, with 12 double faults....Now, I know dugheru's style matches up well against sharapova but pova's been gaining back her previous form and I figured she would be on a mission. Plus, with the exception of dugheru beating a tough Peng in previous round, she has never beaten a well-known and top-notch opponent. I must say though, I'm more than disappointed with sharapova's play so far in this match.....still though, I think she pulls it out here in the 3rd. I have yet to lose a bet in this open, and have made around 10k so far....hopefully sharapova comes through here, that would be 2 really lucky wins today. Tennis has been my bread and butter over the years (as has nfl more so than nba/college bball) and I've been more than successful at it, particularly on women's side lol. But yeah, it can be tough to play these games for sure and have had fortunate and unfortunate endings occur to me. BOL though...u play tennis games also bro?

i absolutely agree with you on the volatility in women's side in the non-majors, as is the case with the men's too....you get more favorable numbers though and this sony ericsson is one of the last tourneys before clay court season, more of the top notch players try to start playing more serious around this time.

womens tennis is too volatile, esp. in non-major tourneys

I really don't like the lakers or Kobe, but he isn't the most over rated player, however, I do acknowledge Kobe wasn't even the best player on the lakers team he played on when Shaq was in his prime. Kobe is a very good player and will finish in the top 10 of all time. He isn't number 1,2,3,4, or 5 but he is somewhere in the top 10. I can easily think of 5 players from the NBA's past that I would rather have on my team than Kobe. Kobe isn't clutch either. He had the worst game 7 last season I have ever seen from any caliber player! He didn't deserve that Titles MVP at all, but he is a good player and he will be in the hall of fame.
