Are we afraid to go outside?? Well partly because gambling promotes anti social behavior and inability to communicate with real people.

I knew a poster way back that basically had a breakdown and never posted or gambled again called Sick Gambler as he stayed home for 3 straight years without even going outside. He was brilliant but snapped and now have no clue what happened to him. I mention him in the vids as a tribute.

The crappy thing about being a professional gambler is that most of the gambling you do is at the night time which is when all your friends are home from work but you have to make some money at night so your nights are usually full. Days are usually empty and boring though because everyone is at work so you just have to hope that you have another friend that is a bum so you have something to do during the day or else you just sleep in until noon and kill half the day that way.
So maybe the gamblers that don't get out of there house don't do it because they don't really have anything to do

The best invention I ever recieved was my Palm Trio. I have it on ESPN Scores all the time. Plus I get play by play. Only thing is when I'm out in public I'm on it all the time. The wife hates it!

I don't go out much, but poker is the main reason, along with sports betting, poker is such a grind, i mean you have to play probably atleast 3-5 hour sessions. Capping games, browsing picks, etc, probably takes another hour or 2, and still being in high school, not much time to do much else, and if i have nothing to do, or just don't feel like gambling, i'll just go out, get high, drink, or w/e

When i do go outside, i feel its just a waste of time, unless something fun is going on, or i want to see a good movie i've been craving to see, or a party, etc. But just going out to chill? hangout? not for me i guess..? hah

some really logical posts here. gambling has indeed ruined my life.. i don't care if i made millions and millions (which i didn't) but even if i did, it has taken me out of society.. i have lost 27 yrs of my life because of it. i missed out on the bbq's, the picnics with the boys on a sunday at the beach. going out socializing, getting sun on a sat aft at the park or at a fair. i refused all these invitations from the boys because i needed to be home to put in a sat aft bet at 4pm, or not go to the beach and bbq on a sun aft when it was 96 deg and sunny and i'm 19 yrs old. and when you do bring that pager with you, you're a wreck. your buddies hate you because you are so anti social because all you do every 4 min is call up a scorephone, or check your pager, and this is you.. ahhhh f-ck, ohhhh sh-t, f-ckin bastards had a 4-1 lead in the 9th, now they're losing.. oh f-ck, i am getting slaughtered, i blew another big lead, i am getting cleaned out today, and now, your day is ruined, you are in no mood to continue your day at beach, you just want to go home and pout and be depressed. your friends don't like your company, and your wife/gf hate that, and i don't blame them.

i can go on with 2300 more stories of my life and how gambling has ruined it. i wish i can have back my last 27 yrs or so when i made that 1st bet, because i sure as hell wouldn't place it. i will never get back those 27 yrs.. they are gone.. and what do i have to show for it... 27 yrs of sitting home on beautiful sunny days and watching sports and placing bets, while the whole world lived a good happy life out there in the sun enjoying every minute of it.

that is why yesterday, we gave advice to young pat venditto who is 19 and loves to gamble and we told him, get the f-ck out now, it will ruin your life..



keller, richkas looks out the window every 4.3 seconds because he is confused.. he keeps hearing horns sounding, people walking and he doesn't know what that is, so he is curious to always look out because he hasn't been out in 24 yrs. he forgot what all that stuff out there is.

Good points Nicky and I think a lot of people have a similar story to yours I guess the game takes a different toll on everyone, I am 22 and started betting at 15, between 15-18 I was obsessed and stressed out all the time, I have had a change of heart in the past four years though and balance my plays with real life and have little difficulty although I admit the ladies do get distracted when you keep checkin scores had one girl dump me over it haha, but all and all you need to find that balance/juggling act and not let it get in your head I will concede that it is a bit harder to function in society as a very active gambler though because noone understands you unless they gamble as well and that is why these forums are so helpful as well as having a few friends who bet often as I do

I spent about 26 hours this weekend watching games.This includes the 4 OT NHL game last night. Got outside and played some basketball, up 30 units after dropping 15 last week. Nonetheless, I am trying to stay off these boards. It's been like this for the last 3 months and is quickly becoming a problem.

That's why I joined bookmaker. Hasn't helped, the action (seeing the game on TV) is all consuming. That's when you know you have a problem. It really isn't about winning or losing because I am on a very hot streak and things are kind of the same. Winning feels good but losing sucks and we all lose.

I appreciate some of the candidness of the old timer's on this board. Kind of hard to think this (My behavior) is normal when I read some of their posts regarding how much they regret when it comes to gambling.

Yah man I am sorry that sucks, like I said I gave it a full three years of my life but luckily I was young and as I got older I saw what was happening and could fix it I still miss out on some things because of it but don't let it run my life anymore spend a few hours a week at the track and a few capping games and watch them when I am bored but you have got to tame the beast

also, to prove my point, try going to a movie theater on a sun afternoon when you have got 9 big bets going on.. i bet you will not make the whole 90 min without getting up and checking scores.

i remember a few yrs back, i was on a sun aft date with this girl i really liked, and i had 15 bets of 1k on each.. the movie was great and i had no interest in it. all i was thinking was how my games were doing. so i kept on getting up every 8 min and telling my date i had to go to the washroom and would hide by the staircase in case she sees me and would call my update lines.. then go back, then sit again for 8 min, get up again and tell her another excuse why i had to get up and check my scores again.. i did this 13 times in 90 min and she never called me back again.. it really controls your life.. i remember losing that day big, and made up some excuse that i wanted to go home cause i was under the weather, meanwhile, i was just too depressed to be out there and wanted to go home and be alone cause i lost money.. it's a very sad hobby to have.. it really ruins your life, even though its great to sit home and watch sports and take it easy, it's a horrible way to waste your only life you have.. when you win, you are in a good mood.. when you lose big, it ruins your whole week/month.. you are miserable, mad, depressed, anxious to win your money back.. it's a sad way to live..
