Not that I want a real Rolex or a fake one either but it's the class reunion season and someone here might want to put on the dog by wearing a Rolex so I checked out the knock offs online.I saw a good site called rolex2u.com where you can buy Submariners for a bit over $100 bucks and they throw in free shipping.Just wondering if anyone here ever bought a fake Rolex either online or in some border town clip joint and thought they looked and worked like the real thing.

bc, they look identical to the real ones and work in the same fashion. they are lighter and if you get one with any gold on it, ive seen some where the gold can scratch off after a while. when i bought my platinum yacht master, the jeweler threw in a fake stainless steel one for nothing. it was so similar, i put it on by accident more than a few times. if you only wear it on occasion, the good fakes look identical and nobody can tell the difference.

i remember being told years ago, that high priced watches like Rolex's have a 2nd hand that moves smoothly in one steady flow, but the knock-offs 2nd hand ticks or moves in increments.
i haven't run across someone trying to sell me a Rolex and Tag in a while cause i don't go to the malls like i did in my youth. seemed like everytime me and friends went to the malls in the late 80's or early 90's someone would pop up in the parking lot trying to sell a watch or gold chain or something.

I rather spend a hundred bucks on watch at walmart then by a knockoff rolex... just my opinion though...

The "best" I ever saw was made in China, sold in NYC and had ROLOX on it.

You were told correctly, the 2nd hand sweeps.Knockoffs have timex works and cheap plating.

Does it sweep without any hesitation. Ive seen people that are claiming thiers are real but there is a slight hesitation in the sweep at each second. I wouldnt spend the money for a Rolex, I like Tag Heuer myself, I dont think there is a better watch for the money.

$4 a watch in Beijing -- but it is true. The one (and only) thing that differentiates it from a real Rolex is the second hand!

I used to be one of the biggest sellers of replica oakleys and watches on the internet. The Rolexs are nice, only pros can tell the different.

I have a real rolex from my old man who got the thing in 1970, and I swear that the second hand stops for just an instance before moving on. I know it is real because they just charged me $1000 to get it refurbished last summer.

Rage, I was wondering about that because I know a couple guys who can definetly afford them but the second hand behaves just like you explain. Yours is obviously real so they must stop briefly.

I been watching it move and I think that the second hand moves 4 times per second. These are distinct start and stop movements. Also the freakin thing runs fast. It is a Rolex Oster Perpetual model 1970 so maybe I have been jackin it too much because after a couple of months in between resettings, it will gain 5 minutes.

You can always tell a fake Rolex by the movement of the second hand. The cheap knock offs will have a smooth flowing second hand while the real deal has a second hand that kinda of clicks along in a herky jerky motion.

Brent, don't do it. In addition to just joining the fake, plastic LOOK AT ME crowd, you could be putting yourself in danger. Years ago my pop bought some knockoff Rolex's for his friends to give as a gag gift. One of them wore the thing having some fun and damn near got himself killed over it when he got mugged.

The rest of you girls, go to the powder room and check your makeup.

i bought a dozen for 10 dollars each. which is a good deal because each one only lasts about 2 months.

I had a fake Rolex and fake Gucci years ago....the plating came off, ect. I still have my Timex Ironman from 1988...it won't die. In the meantime, I purchased a few Chase-Durer Combat Commands and love them.
