I believe one of these two teams have to have set an NHL record, because there have been 101 total shots and only 2 goals scored.

don't you know what the NHL OT record is?? It's det vs mtl i beleive around 1941... and the final score was 1-0.. i believe it went somewhere like 7 OT's.. and no goals were scored up until the 7th ot.. so this one is far from any record.

If history is a guide, this will end on a deflection by a defenseman or similar fluke goal. It's probably too late for someone to make a play.

Most shots on goal in any one game by both teams is 141

A shootout is fine for the regular season. Once the playoffs start, you decide a winner, no matter what.

well, they played 10 periods.. incl OT..even if each team had 6 shots on goal per period, which is not much.. that would be 120 shots, and 1 goal. this one here is 110+ shots, and 2 goals.

i guess they're both impressive.. who knows when this one will end. we could be up all night..

I couldn't tell you why they don't sir, however the NHL always has played sudden death OT in playoff games.

I hope this is worth the wait, if Dallas lose I've just wasted a couple hours on a boring game. This game is worst than soccer.

Playoff hockey never has had a shootout and God willing never will. Playoff games are to be won by actually playing the game rather than a penalty shot competition.

I do know this game set a Sharks franchise record on shots on goal and the longest game, because they just said it.

The longest NHL playoff game I can remember watching was the Pitt/Philly game back in like 1999. I believe it went 5 OT range.
