From 300 members viewing and 4500 guests to this in a jiffy.
Might want to crank up the boosters.

That means the mods and the paid posters, along with their aliases are not counted. Do we have a breach of security?

Yes it is, but the numbers are inflated.
How do you go from 4500 guests and 286 members viewing to THAT dropoff in a few minutes..?
Maybe everyone said "hey it's dinner time, lets log off"... SBR John explained the tracking system a while back, viewers are kept logged in for long periods of time, even when they are not legitimately viewing. All gambling forums do this, it's inflated so the forum looks busier to advertisers.

There is another clue, crazyl. Both jjgold and Deuce responded to this thread but only one is listed on the user list. Since one is each other's ghost you won't see them on user list simultaneously.

What's even funnier is when I make a ridiculous claim a ghost is there promptly to humilated me, thus proving the validity of the claim even more!
Thank you, thank you, thank you.

When the number drops suddenly it's because the server was restarted and the counter is reset. Anyone online 5 minutes before is not counted.
When the number of guests goes too high in proportion to the amount of users it's because a third party is linking in to us and people stop in to check out that page. It could be link to a photo posted here.
Our forum's counter is set to show who's been on the board in a set of time.. roughly the same as a business day. It might be 10 hours. We matched EOG initially but don't know what they are set at now. It wouldn't bother me if we changed our wording to "Online Today."
Anyone curious to how your forum stacks up to the others can check out the who's online activity log or look at the amount of new posts and threads in a set amount of time. Right now we are behind Covers and TheRX for forum activity and are on pace to be at #2 eventually. But "activity" isn't the only thing that matters on a good board. You won't see SBR rack up traffic from a nudie forum.

You should just track whose actually online in real time, for starters. Obviously guests come and go, but pumping the members up for 10 hours when they may just check a thread for 15 minutes is silly.
Do you anticipate a sponsor may pull the plug if [x] activity isn't documented should they randomly check, so you guys kind of spread the activity out for an entire biz day..?
