His excitement is fine -although many times uncalled for, but don't sell this on being a big upset. Nova hasn't played good in two months and they choked this same way against South Florida. He probably called the Morehead State game in his bed last night on replay just so he could make some comment about Cinderella and her slipper.

I was pissed off that Gus wasn't working any of the games yesterday. Thank god they got him going today, he's the best at really capturing the moment and making dull moments interesting. Him with Len Elmore is class and excitement at bringing you a great broadcast.

Not a big fan of Tirico. He's a fantastic reporter, but his call is kind of bleh vs the greats.
Harlan has a great call, I agree.
What's funny is I _ALWAYS_ reference the STOKELY... DOWN THE SIDELINE call from Gus and it's not even in his top 10.

Honestly, is there anything better than Gus Johnson calling an NCAA game in March? It seems cliché to talk him up at this point because his name is laden with ubiquitous praise in every dusty, web-filled crevice of the internet, but the man is the perfect soundtrack for college hoops in March.

This was on full display during Friday afternoon’s George Mason-Villanova thriller.

He perfectly captured the emotions of the fans watching at home during the game. His voice raising in octave as the Patriots chipped away at Nova’s 10 point lead, finally reaching a crescendo when Luke Hancock hit a 3-pointer with 21 seconds left to cap the run.

All the things that make Johnson the best in the business -- pace, tone, emotion --came out during the final five minutes of that game.
