Here's an angle to look at. Consider only 1 1/8 mile preps. Only 4 such horses have over 100 Beyers at this level. Unfortunately, 3 of them are in the 18, 19, and 20th posts. The exception is Z Fortune out of the 6th spot. With a Morning Line of 15-1, this horse has value.

Big brown is going to have it tough from the 20 but can still win. if it is a dry track and fast I like Denis of Cork and Eight Belles. Eight Belles is a good pick on a slow track to and so is Recapture and Z Fortune on slow tracks. I like Denis of Cork alot.

Derby write up detailing my contenders

I think you have a better chance of cashing a ticket with anak nakal then you would placing a wager on eight belles the only other two phillies to win the derby actually to hit the board had all run against the boys before and had beaten them Eight Belles nope. It makes for a great story line and maybe to get some people to watch the race who normally wouldn't. Tale of ekati and Smooth Air are the dark horses who could make a race out of this smooth air defenitely has a few question marks spiking fever a week ago and if he is fully recovered. BBj and recapture should give Big b some company up front I don't know what to expect from alot of the poly only players Zfortune has good action and should be ok with the surface Zhumor and Monba might be questionable Monba has decent action and pedigree just not a fan of his but he is a good horse who could wake up to be great horse on sat. BBj is a sprinter and really nothing more he may turn into a good miler if you watch his action he is all over the place its not pretty but he gets the job done. I don't like denis of cork I just don't think he is prepared for this race and question his fitness. Adriano is not mentally prepared for this race they have been schooling him quite a bit so maybe that will help with race day jitters but I don't think so he is pretty high strung. if Pyro and court Vision can get half way decent trips I think this race could set up for a stretch runner but they will need a good trip and Pyro seems to like Chruchhill
