    Chasing again
Lost half my bankroll chasing. I stay in control 99% of the time but then on a rare occasion I have a bad day at work or something, get in a bad mood, and I lose a bet, my mood gets even worse so I end up wanting to make the money back. So then I double up only to lose again because I did not cap the game at all I just picked it on a whim because it was an available game to bet on. Now I'm even more pissed and depressed and more out of control. Before I knew it I blew 50% of bankroll. Only then did I snap out of it and took some days off. This happens rarely but when it does it sets me way back. It will take a long time to make up what I lost

Again I will start over. I will slowly build it up but how do I know whats in the future? How do I know a year from now I wont do the same thing? Gotta learn how to get past these chasing episodes that seem to strike once a year but hurt big time

Actually had to hold myself back from betting it all to get back to my old BR. I'm past that now, dont need any stop gambling advice because I always stop short of losing everything. Just gotta avoid the BS. If I quit chasing for good I will be living the dream life like JJGold when I get to be his age

if you're not a middler or scalper then call your books and have them cap off your max bet limit. say you are a 50/100/150/200 bettor then cap off at 200

Francis will they do this? Have you tried it? Will they simply take off the restriction if you call and ask or is it permanent?

Yes they will or at least a top book will. to your last point , they can only protect YOU so far , the rest is up to you.

Yes, it's the same thing over and over again, but it always bears repeating.

Chasing is never good. Not even when you're tired, not even when you're off a bad beat, not even when you've already chased and lost once, not ever.

The wisdom of any bet you make is completely independent of whatever may have happened to you at all times previously, even if you don't want it to be that way.

The wisdom of any bet you make has ONLY to do with your bankroll size and your presumed edge.

A perfect example: Wile Out currently has a certain bankroll right now, and he may make bets in the future. How his bankroll got to where it is is COMPLETELY irrelevant as far as his current and future bets are concerned. It doesn't matter if he got there by chasing, getting lucky, getting unlucky, winning a lot, losing a lot, or anything else.

If you have a bankroll of 2,000 and you think you have an edge of 54% likelihood of winning on a -110 line, that dictates a certain bet. It doesn't matter if your 2,000 bankroll came from 50,000 or 500. If you want to make a wild bet on that new one, that's fine, but understand what you are doing. Understand that you are making a sub-optimal, wild and irrational bet.

Of course this is all from an "investing" perspective. If you are just playing "recreationally", it's more ok to do whatever you feel like doing, as long as you understand that a recreational approach is not expected to be profitable.

Most people, though, of course, fall somewhere in between, which is what leads to people betting wisely 95% of the time, and then chaotically 5% of the time.

It's fine to do whatever you want, the point is to always be aware of what you are doing, and try to make sure it's really what you want to be doing, and not some kind of self-deception.

I tend to do the same thing when I'm extremely pissed. I found a good method for me, is to cap the west coast games, and hold off on them. If you win, you forget about the late games. If you lose, you have something to fall back on, backed up by your numbers, instead of just picking on a whim.

Willy you should not even be betting and try something else.

Personally I would bet it all on Padres +185.

Chute the west coast games ARE the late games

HG your advice is worth a pot of gold.

JJ, sadly you are probably right. But I wont quit because I am addicted. If I was to quit I would probably start beating my wife or go back to drugs and booze or both

Yeah, I know, that's what I was saying. Cap all the games, put in your best plays, and leave 1 or 2 personal favorites from the late west coast games off your card. Then, if you MUST chase, at least you have some knowledge of the late games, since you've capped them already and put them to the side.

No matter how hard everyone tries, we are bound to go on tilt on occassion. It's in our DNA since we are gamblers. I guess the key is that if you happen to do it, to minimize the potential loss that can occur from doing it.Its probably best on the nights you lose to just regroup and to get back to doing what was working for you before the loss but I guess its easier said then done.Everyone's been in the same boat as you before
Best of luck.Hopefully you get back on track
