They are poor defensively but they know this and can get better. Knowing is half the battle. It's not like we actually recognize something that these NBA coaches don't . With that said, lets see how they're playing come playoffs. Remember the Heat started out 9-8 and had problems playing as a team initially. Now they're one of the top teams in the NBA and can beat any team by 30 on any given night.

Knicks will become better over time. However Melo makes their defense even worse, and they already could score 100+ any given night. They need to become more defensive minded, and grab a center. Maybe then they will be a contender.

Usually I would say its the regular season and as long as you make the playoffs with 2 big guns you never know what will happen.

Denver is NO threat to win the western conference. In the playoffs, star power wins.. No star power usually means no deep runs..
And being deep is highly overrated in the playoffs as teams are not running through their bench in those intense games. Being deep is mostly relevant during the regular season and if a team is dealing with major injuries..

The thing is, you dont have to be a winner to be loved. Look all the great, legendary players over the last 20 years that didn't win anything. There is always the excuse, ohh they didn't win cause Jordan won everything in the 90s, in 2000s it was the Lakers and Spurs that won everything.

DAntoni will ever win a title but he'll always find a place to work. His teams will be competitive and exciting to watch which is gonna sell tickets and ultimately that matters way more then any championship.

There is really no reason to hold him accountable because what he does is good enough. Especially for NY. That franchise is a god damn joke. They talk about themselves as if they are one of the top franchises in the league along the lines of the Lakers, Celtics and Bulls when in reality they are not even close to the Sixers.

I bet you now Knick fan knows that their overall franchise history record is UNDER 500. Thats right, the Knicks are historically a losing team (or they were going into the season, doubt the 4 games over 500 this year changed anything). 90% of fans that saw them win a title are freaking dead it was so long ago. But NY still has its legends, John Starks, Oakley, Allen Houston, Ewing. When its all done Amare and Melo will be looked at the same way, instead of the Jordan excuse they will have the Rose excuse, or the Lebron excuse or whatever. And its ok, NY is not the only place there are plenty of legendary players that played on great teams and never won anything, Barkley, Malone, Stockton, Reggie Miller. Gary Payton had to chase a ring down and there are many more example of guys like this.

So its OK that NY wont ever win a title with Amare and Melo. They will be competitive, they will have some great play-off battles, they will have some memorable games. And thats gonna be enough to keep everyone happy.
