2004: 2096 Yards from Scrimmage (lead NFL). 1518 yards rushing, 578 yards receiving.
2005: 2390 Yards from Scrimmage (lead NFL). 1860 yards rushing, 530 yards receiving.
2006: 2127 Yards from Scrimmage (5th, NFL). 1662 yards rushing, 465 yards receiving.
Face it, Tiki retired in the prime of his career. His 3 best years in his career were his 3 last years.Comment -

#40I was curious if Tiki ever got any NFL MVP consideration during those last three years. But unfortunately for him 2004 is when Peyton broke all those records and ran away with the NFL MVP. Similarly, in 2006 LT had his career year, broke all kinds of records and ran away with the NFL MVP. In 2005, Shaun Alexander broke the single season rushing TD record, but Tiki still got some consideration:
Shaun Alexander, Seattle 19 votes
Peyton Manning, Indianapolis 13
Tom Brady, New England 10
Tiki Barber, NY Giants 6
Carson Palmer, Cincinnati 2Comment -

#43Guess he must need money. Why else would he come back after being retired for four or five seasons? On another note, when he retired didn't he say he wanted to leave the game early because he wanted to get away before any serious injuries? Coming back at 36 you would think that he would be an injury waiting to happen. Still can't see this going throughComment -

#46Here's a pretty good analysis by Tim Hasselbeck and Antonio Pierce who were with Tiki on the 2005 & 2006 New York Giants.
Looks like a one year contract with the Bucs for the veteran minimum is Tiki's best shot. It sounds like Tiki's play was never an issue, but his attitude in the locker room was a distraction. Maybe a new venue, a few years to reflect and his brother around as a steadying influence will help him move past his reputation and history that he had with the New York Giants.Last edited by slacker00; 03-09-11, 05:22 AM.Comment -

#56No, 35 isn't old in the big scheme of life...
But it is friggin ancient when your talking about being a RB in the NFL. The only two who I can think of who were effective at that age were John Riggins and Marcus Allen. And neither one of them sat out for 4 years.

#65Does Tiki Barber Have Anything Left In the Tank?
I hate the way that Barber disrespected Eli Manning but he reminds me of Don Mattingly. All of that great hard work and the team wins the Championship the next year... I'm rooting for him and I do think that he can still play. He was a lock for the Hall of Fame and was putting up monster numbers when he left.

#70In April 2010, Barber reportedly left his wife of 11 years, Ginny, for 23-year-old Traci Johnson, a former NBC intern. Ginny was eight months pregnant at the time. Soon after, NBC cited its morals clause and terminated Barber's contract , which reportedly paid him more than $300,000 per year.
