Did they take taxes out on the spot and/or give you a tax form? My wife recived a tax form for just hitting a $2700 small jackpot but after that day she lost over 5k back. How does one prove how much they lost in a slot machine to offset the slot machine winnings? It was all cash, no CC advance or anything like that. It seems it would be hard to prove.

You could only offset claimed gambling income to claimed gambling losses. To prove the losses you could get a player's card statement at the end of the year. It should show wins and losses, assuming she uses a players card.

Other ways are to ask someone who runs a deli to save losing lottery tickets for you. Throw them some money, take them out for a lobster dinner. You could collect horse racing tickets as well. It seems hard, but this stuff adds up fast, especially horse tickets.

It is the beginning of the year, so I would start doing this. It won't offset everything 100%, because it puts you in a higher tax bracket, but every little thing helps.

i use a players card and collect old lotto tickets to off set winnings its a must for slot players
