So is NJ getting online gambling tomorrow?
Christie says he's signing this bill.

Christie to Make NJ Internet Gambling Decision by Tomorrow
    March 2, 2011 at 11:08 am

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has until Thursday to veto or sign a bill allowing Atlantic City casino companies run online gambling websites for state residents. The bill has already passed through both houses of New Jersey legislature and has the support of both parties, and if Christie signs the bill, all of the money earned through the online gambling would be allocated to the horse-racing industry. If he vetoes it and the voters have to approve it, the bill will most likely be derailed because a recent poll found that 67% of New Jersey residents are against Internet gambling, according to The Wall Street Journal.

It will probably pass, but it has nothing to do with wagering on sports.....?

I gotta think states are severely underestimating the amount of money that would flow into American Sports Books if online gambling was legalized. Sports betting that is.

But until the stigma is removed, never gonna happen.

Need the face of gambling to stop being Gold and Landers and replace it with Durito and obama

It usually takes a year to enact legislation. Either way, outside of horse racing, sports betting is not included in the bill. You'll still have to use offshore books to bet online and it will still be illegal at the federal level.

I thought this was more based around horse racing. Either way no matter what the state does the Fed can shut it down.

It allows people who may not be able to travel to a casino the ability the play "at" the casino. In addition, online winners will be offered special discounts to go to and play at said casinos.

That is shocking; I would have thought most people couldn't give two shits whether Internet gambling was legal or not.

Let's be honest...Jersey isn't exactly the Pearl of the Northeast....they should probably just use it as a Toxic waste disposal location and but a fence up and keep everyone contained inside. No one should be allowed out of Jersey

Why give it to the horse industry?

Why do the states keep coming up with ways to keep the horse racing industry alive? Let them fukking die! The industry is full of cheating thieves!

Horse Racing industry in New York/Jersey is on Life Support right now. The state gave some temporary funding to keep the current racing program afloat...but it may be finished by this Summer if cash isn't found somewhere.

Some people are getting confused. This bill has nothing to do with sports betting. It has to do with online casino gambling. Poker, blackjack, etc.
