Seriously? He still had a decent season last year but at the time they signed him originally I thought that JP was an idiot because they should have used that money to get some type of pitching. They didn't need the extra bat

JP Ricciardi is a moron. Make him the head of college scouting and hire a baseball guy.

I think this is the right move by them actually. Can't put him on an NL team because he can't field. Don't see any AL team wanting to pick up 8 million. Sometimes you gotta take the hit.

Yeah it was the right move. Its too bad they did it in the first place.
What a waste of good cable TV money.

Your right about the signing last year...Why not somebodyelse...Younger?.....Pitching?. Two year deal didn't look good from the start. 39 year old Thomas way past his prime...A fluke decent season in Oakland teased JP ricardi enough to make the dumb move.....So know what happens to the rest of the 8 million, does Frank still get the fulll amount even though he's at home watching TV. I don't think any team will pick him up.

He did have a pretty good career.

I have been the biggest critic of the Jays management, especially JP. However, this is a great move. Frank can't hit anymore. His bat is too slow and he's just too old. I'd rather pay him to sit at home than pay him to sit on the bench and sulk. He needed to be removed from that clubhouse.

He does pose a bit of a negative distraction throughout his playing days. Good point ronald. He is a sulker....that's too bad....LOL hence "big hurt"

He has always been a slow starter and was one of the jays best hitters last year. He'll sign on with another team -- bat .275 with 20+ HR's and 70-80 RBI's ... many teams could do worse in the DH spot.

JP and Gibbons are both idiots. for some reason gibbons reminds me of george w bush.

This shouldve been done before the season. We shouldve atleast got some prospects for him.

Wells and Rios arent doing shit, and now Matt Stairs is the DH...argh!!! We need Bonds in Toronto!!!

Thomas started very slow the past 2 years and then picked it up and had pretty good seasons.

Frank Thomas is washed up and overweight

he is an embarassment to baseball

                                  It's a joke

                                    .277, 26 HR's and 95 RBI's last year ...

If only most players could be that washed up, the league would be a better place.

By the way, is Thomas hitting worse than the fat boy we call David Ortiz this year? Seems like their numbers are very similar ...

Dodgers could've used him vs. Atlanta's cy young pitchers. About 5 times, couldn't even get runners in from 3B with less than 2 outs.

Big Hurt owns the major league record for most sac flies.

Now the Jays need to sign Bonds as DH to lead them over the Twin Evil Empires and become America's (Canada's?) sweetheart.
