when would you want to start? i dont think it gets better than growing up in the 80s. sure kids now have cell phones and all that, but they also listen to the most god awful music in the world and by the time you're 14 the girls have already 'been around', and the boys are gangstas by the time they're 9 and a half.

Im not sure what it would have been like to live through the 60s and 70s, but i wouldnt want any part of nam in the news or mlk/jfk....before that its more war, the depression and so on.

I would have grown up about 10 years earlier than I actually did. With exception to grunge I think music was better in the early 80's and growing up in that time would have set me up perfectly with the whole IT boom.

I was born in 1966. I remember the 70's mostly for the music and great time to be a kid. No worries about sexual predators or any of that crap. No cell phones, no cable, no video games too worry about. We used to get up in the morning and play outside all day until it was time to eat dinner.

Early 80's, high school was also great. Didn't have to worry about school shootings or other types of violence. Had a great time partying.

From 1984-1988 was in the military and have worked ever since. Kids today have a lot of stuff but imo it doesn't even compare to growing up without all of it.

Depends, will Bobbi Love be nine at the same time and still have those wild spin the bottle parties when she turns 11?

Maybe I'd like to be 10 around 1918 or so. Coulda' seen the Bambino, Rajah and Gehrig play ball, lived on my abuelito's ranch during the Depression and probably been too old for the WWII draft meaning I might have been able to catch on in the majors while so many were in the military.

I've got 4 kids and between the TV, computer, and video games, it's sometimes real hard to get them to go outside.

thats awful. i used to go out for hours on my own and hit rocks with a mini bat, throw my football at steps/trees/lamp posts and walk around the woods looking for turtles. i couldn't stand to be in.

I would have loved being 10 nowadays but I would not be half the man I am today.....All I had was an atari and I had a hard time putting that down but my parents made sure I went outside or played sports......I just dont see that as much today....Get your kids outside, take the video games and make them do something, play tag, skateboard, bike, sports teams, debate hell even the chess club will get them off the streets and teach them a little about life......I can say I would not change a thing in my life.......

Childhood was da bomb ... first 8 yrs sucked ... in all day .. played Coleco/Atari/Nintendo.

Then parents came back to Costa Rica and I got to experience so many fun outdoor games ... it was unreal.

I cant stand being indoors with a sunny day

That of course is a personal opinion. The 70's is better than the 80's or 90's imo.

I like when I grew up, but I guess it would have been nice to be a teenager instead of a toddler in the 80's.

This is actually a question I think about sometimes...I can't narrow it down to just one time period.

I'm a history geek, so I would go with the eras I find most interesting....but I would want to be a little older...roaring 20's, end of WWII, 60's (who DOESN'T need a little weed and free love?!), 80's cuz the clothes were bad ass and I love the music....ancient Greece, Rome or Egypt...hell, I could go on all day...just about the only time I wouldn't want to be around for (thought I DO still find them interesting) are 1300 and 1400 in Europe and anytime the Salem witch trials were going on. They would have burned me in a heartbeat.

Played back yard wiffle ball , football , etc with the kids in my neighborhood. It was my favorite time in life. As a sports lover, i got to play sports each day, had no worries on money, ladies , etc.
