Betting NBA After All Star Break

This is my first full NBA season betting...

I've realized the first half of the season that for the most part its a complete crapshoot whether a teams going to show up. No one game makes a difference to most teams, since the season is so long.

Versus NCAA BBALL where every game matters.... i've preferred college ball.

Does this change after the AllStar game? It seems like the games would start to be more meaningful and players would start to care more (contenders)

A motivation variable is a must in any method of handicapping or model.
It will change for some teams as the playoffs loom but not for others.
