Suns have to be careful. They started to lose a little intensity when up by 16 pts.
Want to go into the half up by two TD's.

You must've missed the fourth quarter of the last game these two teams played.
Duncan couldn't buy a shot and Shaq clowned him on the offensive end.

Terrible finish to half. D'Antoni not the best at calling time-outs. They were up by 16. Then some of the air went out of the balloon, as obvious to any Suns-watcher, and he just lets it go...
Gave back 8 pts... Game could have been over by now. Not good.

I guess he was trying to keep Amare out of foul trouble by benching him for final minutes.
How much has Shaq played in 1H? Like 5 minutes?

Sure got the feeling that the zebras were very judicious in spreading out those fouls to the Suns starters.

Suns weakest point since Shaq come to town has been turnovers. Still not good today, but the Spurs are turning the ball over more.

Suns big men are too afraid of picking up fouls. Too many easy layups for Spurs in 3Q. D'Antoni is giving Spurs too much credit to get fouls on his players. They need to get back to the defense of 1H.

As expected. Flop city by the Spurs. To get Amare his 4th foul.
Unbelievable the refs still go for that.
Kurt Thomas got Shaq and Amare their 4th fouls.
Hope the series isn't all going to be about Pop trying to get the Suns big men fouls and D'Antoni trying to avoid them. So far that is exactly what it is.

Suns cover.
D'Antoni lost this one for the Suns.
Except for Duncan, Spurs are a bunch of cheaters. I've never seen a team that perfected cheating to this degree. In any sport. And I'm done watching this. Hockey playoffs are 100x cleaner and more fun. As well as more profitable.

DH, I understand your frustration, but c'mon... Cheaters??? I can understand hating the Spurs. I truly think they've taken flopping to a whole new level (and that is NOT a good thing for hoops fans). That said, they always "get the best from the players they've got", "do the little things that win championships", "come through in the clutch"... Pick your tired sports cliche and it could probably be applied to these Spurs. If cheating goes unnoticed, then wouldn't it be wise for the Suns (and every other NBA team) to work on "perfecting" the element of cheating, as well? That was exactly what I thought game 1 would be (with the possible exception of Duncan hitting that trey)...
We're in for a hell of a series, here...

I think you make a fair point, Baba, but I also agree w/ Dark Horse too. I think what it amounts to ultimately is officials calls. They need to do a better job, this is the playoffs. Sometimes I think they believe because the whistles in their mouth they have to blow it.

The spurs really have perfected DIRTY play better than any team ive EVER watched! Whether its Bruce Bowen kicking peoples chops out, Ginobli's flopping, even Kurt Thomas (referred to as Denzel Thomas by commentator). Hey, it might be annoying to watch but its what gets them breaks and gets them titles. Whatever can get the club wins I guess but I do not disagree that this group of players have uncountable ways to play dirty.

Also, if you watched the game, Kurt Thomas plowed a player out of the way acting like he was "ducking out" getting Tony Parker an easy free-lane drive to the hoop. Now, the refs called it the next time, and it was identical to the 1st time when they didnt say anything and it went in for 2 points. The game ended with the suns losing by 2. This and many flops and refs helping them out really had a big affect of the result in my opinion. NOT HATING on the spurs though, true champs til the end!

Last things first. Barring a miracle, the series is over. Suns didn't do the little things down the stretch. This was their game, and they managed not to win it.
We agree about the nature of the Spurs. Compare them to inspiring champions like the Showtime Lakers and Jordan Bulls. I just call them what they are. Champions of cheating. But I can understand that a season ticket holder would see them in a more positive light; maybe champions of bending the rules in their favor. They have poisoned the game of basketball to the point where it will never be the same. As you say, other teams have to follow suit. I feel sorry for Duncan, because he's an icon who deserves a much better legacy.

Going to go out on a limb and guess you're not a Patriots fan.
But ultimately, the zebras have to do a better job. They should know the Spurs like to get cute by now. Inexcusable.

Good point. Isn't it interesting that two of the most respected coaches of our era feel they can't win without bending the rules?!
Can you imagine Vince Lombardi thinking like that?
What are we teaching our kids? Kids imitate the stars they admire.
Hockey understands. Two minute penalty for diving. Soccer is getting there, but has a long way to go (actually, I think diving started in soccer).

He started out as assistant coach at West Point. That would, at that time, just about have been the US capital of honorable conduct.
Point is that champions don't need to cheat. Jordan didn't. Magic or Bird didn't. We remember them for the great times they gave us. And for the standard of excellence they set. Only Spurs fans will remember the Spurs like that.
