DES MOINES (AP) - A Des Moines trucker has been killed at a demolition yard after a fellow trucker accidentally backed over him.

Polk County sheriff's officials say William Thomas Rogers was hit Tuesday while standing in the yard at DeCarlo Demolition. Officials say at least six dump trucks and two loaders were in the yard moving dirt while Rogers stood nearby talking on his cell phone.
Rogers and the driver of the truck both worked for Seibert Trucking of Des Moines.

Witnesses told authorities the back-up alarms on all the trucks were functioning, and that they tried to warn Rogers and the driver as the truck was backing up.

Rogers was pronounced dead at the scene.

I think the person driving the truck should have his license revoked for life AND I think the guy on the cell phone is an idiot for not paying attention to his surroundings when talking on his phone.

I don't understand why should the whole world revolve around one idiotic guy? That's disrespectful not only to life, but to everyone in this world. It was coming for this guy. Its not just that they had backup sounds going off they were yelling at him to warn him...and obviously he was standing somewhere he shouldnt' have been. I'm not saying he deserved to die. But its hard to feel sorry for the guy.
