#37The double honey dip off the backward was pretty impressive, I forgot about that one. But you have to remember how big Griffin is. I've already seen it done by a much smaller guy:Originally posted by demensDoes noone realize that Blakes 3rd dunk was off backboard + elbow? Vince just dunked it straight in. That was the best dunk of the evening imo.

#42the idea of a dunk is indeed one net, but that's until people have been trying to come up with impress dunks for 25 years. until the more gifted middle sized athletes come out and step up and join the dunk contest, i have nothing but respect for guys like javale and ibaka. deep down in your heart you know that even if you have 2 months to think about it it would be difficult for you to THINK of a realistic dunk to do that will net you a high score, if you are 7 feet tall. there are too many "been there done that" that if you aren't the right size there's no way you can do better than the previous versions. did people notice how much javale's head has to tilt on the last dunk of the night? it didn't look impressive though because he's too tall. so what can the man do? do what he can do that others can't, and that's taking advantage of his amazing wingspan. he successfully did that with the two hoops dunk.Originally posted by keyboardingThe idea of a dunk is one net. Adding props to it doesn't make it any more impressive. I refuse to buy that logic. Sad part is the judges did so we're going to see a lot more stupid shit in the next few years until they outright ban props.
I'm sure we'll be seeing a trampoline dunk on a 23' net with a birthday cake with 7 candles on it for some little black kid's birthday on that night who has cancer.
please give the man more credit for doing his best to wow the crowd. anyone here can name a dunk that javale can do and realistically be able to wow the crowd im willing to give 25 points to. tons of respect for javale (not his basketball iq though)Comment -

#43And that's where innovation is born. If you add variables (second net, cars, fukking stuffed animals, etc.) you move away from the idea behind the whole thing.Originally posted by lolbearthe idea of a dunk is indeed one net, but that's until people have been trying to come up with impress dunks for 25 years.
The only thing this dunk contest has achieved was tell all future dunk contestants that having the best actual skilled dunks (DeRozan) will never beat out big men who use gimmicks.
What we witnessed was the death of creativity, boys.Comment -

#44Jordan has done it from the line.Originally posted by NardVaGriffin's first two dunks were ok. Nothing special. DeRozan's dunks were better than Blake's. The free throw dunk has been done a lot but he was the only one that jumped from the line

#55It wasn't even an inch further. People must have forgotten the FIRST time Jordan did that dunk, not the one they showed on TNT. Yeap, he did it twice, ohh and Ibaka is not 7 feet incase some of these kids posting about his great dunk saw him for the 1st time yesterday.Comment -

#59If you guys rewatch Blake's first dunk he switches it to more of a basic 360 after he missed his first 2 attempts. I'll admit that if the 1st or 2nd attempt at it went down then it would have been the best dunk, but on his third attempt it was just a 360 without the style and flair of his missed attempts. Derozan's 2nd dunk was my favorite, he got it first attempt and had alot of style to it, was like a hadouken from street fighter.Comment -
