Watching it again, the whole thing does feel very contrived. The flow of the "story" doesn't make sense. Why would he say something like that? What would have been her natural expected response? "Yeah, me neither!"

I have a feeling that was one of the only sports reporters in the country who isn't a big fan of cricket. And for those who aren't fans, it does seem quite hysterical how crazy people get about a tiny little urn.

I honestly don't think that was contrived at all. Aussies are probably the funniest, wittiest and have the most deadpan sense of humour of any country I've lived in. Seriously funny people here.
