#39Based on my experience, Yankees fans are more arrogant than any others, and for good reason whether you're talking 'recent history' or 'all-time.' Red Sox fans are the biggest knee-jerk reactionaries I've ever been around, and I know Red Sox and Mets fans who hate the Yankees more than they love their own team, so that also makes them the more envious fans.
I grew up rooting for Ted Williams and Carl Yastrzemski before Texas even had major league baseball, for what that's worth.Comment -

I love how you present your opinion as a fact. Brilliant stuff. I can do that as well - all Texans wear tight Wrangler jeans, cowboy hats, snakeskin boots and ride around on horses. It's a fact.Comment -

#42Doesn't hurt at all. I could give two shits what some guy on a gambling forum thinks. However, classifying an entire fanbase as a whole is moronic.

#45I hate the Yankees and all the other New York teams in all sports.
Only time I would root for a New York team is when the Giants or Jets play the Raiders. I cannot stand the Chokeland Faiders more than any team.Comment -

So you're garnering your opinion on an entire region based upon what you read on various internet gambling sites?Comment -

#51As Comedian Doug Stanhope said: "F*$! the Yankees... It's like cheering for the house in Vegas." Great comedy bit and so true.
Yankee fans have to be the most fair weather low-class fans in all of sports. I used to go to yankee stadium in the early 90s/late 80s. The place was a mausolium. I'd go on Friday nights with a dime bag and a couple sandwiches and sit in the bleeders - and NO ONE was there.
I'd cheer against them and talk trash the whole time and no one said anything - until Torre arrived and they started to win. Some of the things out of people's mouths was ridiculous. "blah blah fifty billion championships". Yeah, too bad those dolts talking trash, like me, weren't even alive when they got most of them. "I saw highlights of Joe D on ESPN". Mmmmhmm.
The funniest moment was a trash talking contest in the late 80s. Someone said: Wait til Mattingly gets off the DL - the retort: Yeah, and wait til Luis Polonia gets out of jail!
I have to admit, being a lifelong Yankee hater and going to Wankee Stadium so many times is kind of ironic - but it was still cheap baseball when the Mutts were out of town, in a time when tickets and parking didn't require a week's salary. I do have to say, however, Yankee Stadium has a special something about it no other venue (other than MSG) quite captures when the team is winning. When they're losing, the Stadium looks like what it really is: The asshole of the Big Apple.Comment -

#53Boston fans spent what, 86 years losing? Let us be arrogant. We've earned it. I also have a feeling that you're lumping Pats fans with Sox fans. They are two completely different breeds.Comment -

Thanks Sporty.....Probably not the best thread to point out that I've been a RedSox fan since 1975, but then again I don't hate the Yankees at all. If anything, I respect them. Their history is a great read.....
