The USA needs a new Holiday: Day of the Dead

No, thank you. We have enough holidays as it is. Every fukking 3 weeks there's some sort of federal holiday or celebration.

Plus, you should be honoring the lives of deceased loved ones at your own discretion. People grieve is different ways

A lot of people don't even celebrate MLK day, you can easily get rid of Presidents day, or one of the two military holidays or Labor day. Labor day WTF??? No day off for Halloween but you get off Labor day?

New Years is very needed for hang overs, can't get rid of that one.

The USA is far more advanced than Mexico and Latin America but I must say I like the "day of the dead" Holiday where people go to the cemetery and think about for their lost loved ones. They beat us there. It seems really natural to have a day to think about the people you lost.

You loved Grandpa right? How often do you think about him or visit his grave and place flowers there? Americans are too busy playing Xbox, going to night clubs, working, and looking at internet porn. I say they give us a day where you care about your lost friends, parents and grand parents. If backwards ass Mexico can do it we can do it. The Europeans already get way more time off than us so why not have an extra day off?

We have Presidents day for a bunch of dead presidents, MLK day for one man, Veterans/Memorial day and a Labor day but we can't have a day to honor our dead loved ones? The Day of the Dead would be a better use of time than those Holidays we already have.

some could celebrate day of the dead everyday by looking at the urn in their living room and saying a quick prayer.

It is silly to have a holiday to remember the dead, because if the person actually meant something to you, it shouldn't take a national holiday to remember them.

I've always said we should fold Memorial and Veteran's Day into the same day and make it a real celebration of our military....and I'm a vet. There are some today, especially the young, that have no idea why they're off from school or work...to them it's just a day off

It's silly to have off Memorial day and Veterans day because you can thank the military any old day. It's silly to have off Martin Luther King day because you can think about him any old day.

In Europe we have a Day of the dead when everybody goes to the cemetery and the whole cemetery is full of flowers.

When you celebrate halloween, we celebrate the day of the dead, we don't have halloween.

Nothing we could do now about these days. They were already here. You are talking about creating a new national holiday to remember the dead.

Then get rid of a day to remember dead Presidents to remember all dead people. Get rid of a day to remember dead Military personal to remember your dead loved ones.

Consolidate Presidents day with 4th of July
Consolidate the two military days together
Put MLK day together with the Presidents for a "Famous Americans" day or something

Or just add one more damn holiday

Culture is learned. If Americans now started the day of the dead then in another generation it would be second nature, and we'd wonder why we didn't have one in the past.
