I use Turbo Tax being as it is so simple, but you can also use it, and not file, but it will do all the work, fill out the 1040 and schedules and you can then efile it for free elsewhere.

Hard to say if we will owe money this year, have no idea what all deductions there are till you get into it.

I did mine a couple days ago and I use Turbo Tax. After State and Federal filings, it cost me like $75 or so. I get mine loaded onto one of those Turbo Tax cards, says I'll have my federal money on Feb 11th. By far the easiest way to go..

if you have simple shit, turbo tax is the way to go. if you have a lot of things to file and want it done right, find a good c.p.a.

brock- when you filed your pizza boy earnings, did turbo tax show you an lol and disconnect?

May sure you deduct the losses from those "Rubberband Plays," I'm sure that will yield you a heftier return.

Hopefully you guys know there is a certain % you could claim as charitable donations before you get flagged. Don't know exactly the certain % of your income. All you need is some salvation army slips and such to cover your tracks.

                  Always go to a pro.

They will know how to maximize ur return.

Dont want to leave money on the table.

Turbo Tax here as well. I used to run ours through a few different free sites (H&R Block, etc.) until ours started getting a little more complicated with rental income, house depreciation and the like. I'd say spend the extra hour some time and see what the difference is, if any, that a competitor may give you vs. TT.

Brock, I got married back in 09' and I was not going to get into all that crap so I took my W-2 to a Liberty Tax... I thought they did a decent job so I went back this year. because I live and work in two separate states Turbo Tax said I owed over 2k to one state this year... I almost died. So I went back to liberty and for $300 I got 3.5k back and owed $0 to my state I live in... It was worth it for me to just pay to get it done... No headaches...

I have to file through Massachusetts because of my insurance job. All my clients are still back there and the office is in Boston, which is where my income generated.

I used to do mine for free online...now that I have a house, I pay one of my locals guys to do it....last year he got me a nice return. Charged me 75 bucks, and I threw him a 100. Had a good talk with him, and we bullshitted for about 45 minutes after we were done going through my shit.

I did my girlfriends all online for free since she just has the basic W2 and savings interest to claim. She had a few hundred in donations to goodwill also.

This year she'll be going to the guy I went to also. Hopefully next Tuesday if he can get us in.

I just got the basic Turbo Tax with some friends and we all split the cost since you can e-file up to 5 federal returns on it for free...All of ours are pretty easy though, so I'd upgrade if you got some crazy stuff going on.
