Can someone please explain to me...

I am sure that this has been discussed in the past, and I am sure the answer is somewhat simple BUT...

Why do vegas sportsbooks not have online betting sites? Wouldnt it still be considered legal, because we would be placing our bets in Vegas?

Someone who knows about gambling law give me the idiots version of it.

I think it has something to do with inter-state trade. I'm assuming it works the same way as when you buy something online and they can't deliver to certain states. This is common with a lot of weaponry and stuff like that..

They are only allowed to have them for Nevada residents but it still is not used much

When I lived in Vegas I had a Phone account with The Mirage....really came in handy. But, it was really restrictive when it came to phone lines used etc.

Exactly. You are not permitted to make a wager across state lines or, I think, transmit betting information.
