Referrer bonus at SBR?

I have referred many friends and they all asked my username but I have never received any bonus. So why do they ask for referrer name when signing in?

The 'referrer' field is standard in vBulletin. There are no point rewards for referring friends, if there were such a reward it would be subject to more abuse than a pinata.
