Any reason why the software keeps updating and then when it restarts it just updates again and does an endless loop?

if you press cancel you can play on the old version.

Just go to the download page and re-download the new software. It ran in the update loop for me too, but all I did was download the updated version, ran the install, and then it worked perfectly.
