    gambling and the public
Being a gambler myself I've always wondered how other people go about this. Like when you go out in public do you tell people you've bet on this game or why your cheering for Miami to cover a +22 spread and look like a fool? When you goto a friends house and you hate to be the asshole that cheers against him knowing you picked his team to lose ATS. Do you tell your friend before the game that his team will lose by stats alone? Do you tell your dates about it? Or explain why your facing the sports tv in a restaurant or a bar? Curious to hear how other gamblers act in public.

For me if I'm doing my normal days I'll go slightly out of my way to see the scores and get updates. Or if I'm at a friends ill ask to check sports center real quick, just to see how my favorite team is doing (BULLSHIT). I don't tell any other females I gamble other than my mother. Occasionally my friends ask if I got any money on the game and I'll tell them who, but NEVER amounts.

The only time when I lose it is when I've got 10-15% of BR big on a bet. If I win or lose I tend to get all hyped up and what not. This have seemed to die down as I've learned a lot about MM and so the rushes have died down too. Coincidentally the profits have increased dramatically.

Avoid telling your girlfriend at all costs. Very few understand or are sympathetic to gambling. If you do have to say, or you get found out, say you just bet $5 a game and tend to win a bit, it's all for fun, nothing serious, etc. Don't look too ecstatic when you win a dime bet, though, or she'll think you're queer for being so happy you won 5 bucks.

There are times when I bet larger amounts and Im not able to watch the game. I always sneek out and check the score on my cell. Those are very tense moments.
And I have to admit my mood depends on the result ,but thats what gambling does to you.
In most cases I have acces to scores 'cause Im bartender, so TV is rite there.
I know a lot of people who gamble and I know several bookies as well. And when u work behind bar then u realize that almost everybody fukkin gambles. It is amazing!!!

If I have big money on a game, I dont leave the house. If Im out watching a game that Ive gambled on, I dont hide it. Everyone around here knows Im the town degenerate anyways.

Don't waste time. Gambling on sports is something to be more ashamed of than to brag about. Recreationally like a trip out to Vegas, no big deal....betting every day is not something to boast about to people.

When I was younger, I use to go around and tell people I bet on games. Now a days, I pretend that I don't even know who is playing when people talk about sports....

why do yo have such a negative outlook? Do you not gamble anymore buddy? If you traded stocks would you be ashamed?

Lots of respect for you buddy, but I just have a different view. I don't boast it to the world, but everyone who knows me, knows I bet.

Its making money and if you can do that and still take care of the neccessities, then what is problem?

The average individual you run into in everyday life doesn't understand sports betting. Most frown at the mention of wagering on sporting events. As a general rule I keep my involvement with these activities very low profile.
Its been my experience women and gambling are not a good mix. When you lose you catch a bunch of shit and when you win they have their palms out expecting a piece of the pie. There are a few rare birds that are cool with this. However I've known some ladies who can bet me under the table and those relationship didn't last long.
My true friends know my history so theres no need to discuss the topic. Sometimes I've placed bets for something they like as a favor. Overall the topic of sports betting isn't something I care to discuss anyway[thats what sbr forum is for}. I just ask who do you think will win and leave it at that.

I try to downplay b/c it is a perceived anti-social behavior like it or not. I enjoy betting on sports, don't get me wrong. I've gone a lot of joy about sports betting and sports watching over the years. I just don't think it is a good idea to announce it to the world.

A bet here and there is okay to tell people about...but everyday like most everyone here....i don't think that is very good idea. But if you did do this for a living...then I think it is okay to tell people or you treat it like an investment.

If you simply are an action junkie...well, that's another problem.

ok, your explanation straightened me out...haha

I thought you were saying earlier how you don't recommend sports betting as if betting itself with the sole purpose to make money is a waste of time. I don't go around blabbing about bets either, I enjoy talking sports with several friends of mine who have never even glanced upon a line.

you should always go around and say you got a lock and you're betting it all on it.
