USPS is getting far worse, agree or not ?

I agree the post office gives the third class away.....The first class pays the freight.

Also the USPS is to top heavy.....To many supervisors for supervisors doing jack.

I don't know the prices ( exactly) but I think it is something like 30% ( maybe way less on high volume well-sorted crap, mail ) ? I never was in a position to know stuff like BBM prices....I was just a mailhandler.....I got to be lead mailhandler because nobody above me in seniority wanted the job,so I got to be level 5 while everybody else was level 4....who wants to fill out dumbass paperwork about how many postcons Pete Besso carries to Moosup at 2am for 20 cents an hour more ?

I say the first class pays the freight too, still have to pay the processors to run the shit thru the DBCS machine, even if daytime, and the mailhandlers and trucking contracts.

I couldn't take the stupidity of the place after 5 + years, inside ( on Graveyard).....maybe If I could have caught dayshift, instead of lead ? Carrier might have worked for me too, had I tried that transfer ?

Another year or two....I might have went postal ?

At least two people sent my wife gift card stuff that never arrived for X-mas....they know she'd acknowledge the stuff ( her style)....so they axed if she got it. My carrier is awful, I'd like to strangle her ass to death and throw her body in the nearby dumpster !.....but I won't ! I would if I knew I could get away with it ! And some of you'se people tip these overpaid A- Holes ! I'm waiting on a big check that should have been here 2 days ago !

I,m on the street most of the day....I'm a city carrier....The brief time I'm in office,the carriers get along well.

My buddy works inside all day as a clerk...He tells me I'm better off on the street...All kinds of BS Infighting.

At least a carrier gets outside most of the day....do your shvt.....might rain or be cold, hot etc.. maybe a dog chases/ bites you, or other shvt. I never said it was easy work, no great rewards for doing your job better than your peers.....what are bucking for carrier supervisor, so all your former buddies can now hate you ?

Real ****** place to work, IMO ! I worked with a legally blind MH that sucked up OT ( like a vacuum) , made way more than the PM.....did very little work, since he was blind. Dude made 30+ hours OT a week....sort of was there until until his wife dropped him off and picked him up ! I bet that has changed....no more dropping the blind guy off for 14-16 hours a day !

Oh yeah, she is really that bad. She talks on her cellphone while stuffing the gang-box, pays no attention to her work. lots of mis-delivered mail is posted on a nearby bulletin board or hand delivered by residents to each other !

What's the standard/ acceptable error rate from DBCS trays.... 1 % ? Then if the carrier-broad yaks on the cellphone while filling the boxes, and A-3 becomes A-8 and my 5 figure check goes astray, and I never get it, then it takes weeks to get re-issued ?

The very letter informing me that they wanted to hire me was mis-delivered and sent to 81 wrong street ( a block over) instead of 81 Right street, so I was at about 10 days late replying to it.....and they had me initiatially assigned to a place about 70 miles west of what was correct....they don't even send you certified mail when they want to hire you and take a piss test !

I had to quit, I'd have gone Postal by now, and killed some supervisor by now with my bare hands ! , ain't kidding !

Well they have a monopoly on a letter at 44 cents, for sure ! They can probably be cheapest on shipping general stuff too,,,if it's important and needed, Choose UPS or Fedex, unimportant crap.... ok USPS !

Still didn't get my check ( mailed Fri). It's basically Boston to New Haven, CT ( 118 miles). I called the PO up there, they said it should have came Tues. ( as I estimated). Either it wasn't mailed or got "misdirected". I'm trying to contact the issuer now. I might drive to Boston tomorrow to get it, since mail here is like living in freaking Costa Rica....and you guys tip mailmen !

The service still sucks.... I sent my stuff ( certified) on Monday about 1pm in the New Haven, Ct area and it took until Thursday ( noon) to get to Boston...72 hours or so. UPS gets shit ( parcels, not envelopes) from Ct to Maine in 24 hours !

Is Ben Franklin ( 1st postmaster general of the US) like riding my letter on horseback from Boston ? 3 days for a flat to move 118 miles isn't great !

USPS has a monopoly on first class letter mail ( FCM) and even more so on 3rd class mail ( junk mail, labeled standard mail, credit card offers and such drivel). No other carrier can touch letter mail, at 44 cents or less. Parcels can be done with greater efficiency by UPS, ( and still pay their people salaries competitive to the USPS). Flats and such are best left to Fed-ex if you are a book in CR or somewhere and need to send a check to a guy in the states.

USPS for regular letters.... : " It'll get there eventually" ....should be their motto
UPS for parcels....done efficientally and fast, but not real cheap, either !
Fed-Ex....For $35 we will move it 2,000 miles in a day !

The problem is nobody ( career employee) at the USPS, ( past their probationary period of 90 days ( i believe) has any concern about getting fired....unless you steal stuff.....steal mail, get caught they just fire you...that would be usually a carrier.

Kind of like you somehow got caught stealing ( rare) ....we ( the USPS inspectors), that caught you , will allow to resign, and not prosecute you, if you resign now !

Steal actual USPS property ( like a box with 50K worth of stamp -stock in it), They will prosecute you big -time.

Again, work at USPS, steal mail, you get fired ! Steal stuff that belongs to USPS ( like a box of stamps, or their cash....they will prosecute you ! )

I knew a guy that was a graveyard clerk, he became a carrier, probably had 15 years in the PO already. Very qualified to become carrier, very fit guy, ran up the stairs at the PO fast as **** at like 35-40 or so. No physical problem for Pete to be a carrier.

Well Pete got arrested on his mail- route by the Popo, for picking up a Ho ( in the Postal vehicle), the Ho was a cop !

He still works there !

I got a ton of stories ( all true) like that about USPS.

Pete didn't end his postal career by getting arrested for picking up a Ho ( cop) in his LLV ( long live vehicle). A couple of demerits, maybe ! That's ******* crazy !, Pete the mailman gets busted for picking up a Ho !...can't really fire him for it, I guess ?

There was a guy that "worked" at my Initial office on graveyard...he looked like PO69, was the union rep ( for clerks)....never got out of desk....never did any work, ever. sat/slept at a desk on graveyard shift in a dark corner....

I used to go there drunk, as the early guy, punch in, pull the alarm codes , then go sleep in my truck for two hours....with an alarm clock !

I am a clerk who works in the Capital Heights BMC in the DC area, been there about 15 years on the graveyard shift.. Like most of you guys I have seen it all. Basically, it's management vs the workers. You also forgot to mention the second biggest eliminators of jobs is absenteeism and tardiness (some of it being real petty). DIdn't really know the meaning of making someone go postal until I got here, but I understand it now.

We had a new PM come in recently ,the guy was gonna reinvent the wheel with his great knowledge of the USPS.

Within 3-6 months we were at the bottom of every list ,in every catagory in our district.

So what do the higher ups do in there infinite wisdom...They take the goof from our office making $85,000 a year.

And give him a new job at a rate of $100,000 a year.....Only in the USPS.
