#318He's stated that this thread wasn't started to obtain the approval of the forum. I will throw my .2 in though and agree with many others who have stated that this is bad idea. It's a bad idea imo because of many things, but most importantly it's' about the kids.
With that being said, good luck in whatever your final decision is.Comment -

#321LVBOUND..........if you were moving to Vegas to play slots, could understand the move.
Not sure about doing this mainly to wager baseball, as I don't fully understand that.........although do in some respects more than others.Comment -

#322LV, why dont you post your picks until you move to Vegas so that we all see if the system is working or not? Good luck with your endeavours.
My unit size is large and I am scared shitless. I hired a programmer from Romania to track my system every year since 1999 (as far back as covers goes). It works almost every year (YES I SAID ALMOST) 2007 and 2008 it lost. The only problem with those 2 years, is the way the programmer designed it there was no room for personal handicapping, which I did the last two years. I do not have the energy to go into more detail about my system than that. I can tell you that it is straight betting. I showed a few people who were interested at the bash and although they were amazed with the results, they thought the sample size of roughly 200 games a season was too small to test.Comment -

#325Dont do this...
Just play from home and keep your day job.
Ya kno...My dad told me once... "Never chase the cards". This can be applied to a lot of things in life,.women, money, sex, drugs, anything really.. But yea..Dont chase the cards, kid.
Let them come to you! hahhaa.
Hey JJ,..but how would the locals eat him alive. The book managers might target in on him after awhile if he's at 1 book all the time but the locals wouldn't even talk to him.
Well,..then again. HE would talk to them. Just like he's on here explaining his life story..hahaha..Comment -

#326Okay, let me try and get this straight. You have a wife and three daughters and you're planning on cashing out your police pension and leaving your job. So the way I look at there are two scenarios.
#1 - You're moving to Vegas and leaving your wife and children back in Florida. Essentially you are making her a single mother raising 3 daughters on one salary. I'm sure you're planning on sending money back home but there is no guarantee that you will be able to after your living expenses are paid. Plus, you will not be there to help raise the kids. She will have to rely on family or friends to fill the void you left. Not a great scenario.
#2 - You are uprooting your family and taking them to Vegas. The cost of living expenses (you cant count on your wife to get a job in one of the worst cities for unemployment) will be huge and the amount you are bringing will not be enough to cover it. Plus, you are taking them away from their friends and presumably other family to chase your dream. Very selfish.
Your family deserves better. Also consider that past performance doesnt equal future success. Your 'system' might have worked in the past when you were paper betting but who knows if it will work this way. This industry constantly evolves. What used to work might not work in the future.Comment -

#329I'm probably a minority here, but I say go for it dude.
9-5 job, nagging old lady, a litter of kids, it gets old quick.
Go try it. Contrary to what people say, there are some people who make a living gambling, and the only real place to do it is Vegas.
The worst that can happen is your broke and you go back home and start again. Whippde fuking doo. At least you tried.Comment -

#337Do you want to make it big there or just exist? Cashing your Pension out is very stupid, and 40K isn't even a lot. I think you are going to watch your money dissapear like a hour glass, and the best you can hope for is to keep your original bankroll and not do too much damage. You don't sound like you'd stay away from the life either.Comment -

#340the problem i am seeing is money. YOU DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH MONEY BECAUSE YOU WILL HIT A LOSING STREAK AND START CHASING. THEY ALL HAVE DONE IT AND WENT BROKE. IT THE SAME GUYS WHO USE TO BET OFFSHORE BUT THEN THEY GOT CREDIT. THEY ALL WENT BROKE BECAUSE THEY CHASED. YOU WILL CHASE WITH REAL MONEY WHICH WILL DESTROY YOU. YOU WILL PLAY THE DUE GAME. I AM DUE TO HIT. BETTING GOES INTO STREAKS AND YOU DONT HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO RIDE OUT YOUR LOSING STREAK. YOU WILL NOT LAST LONG IN VEGAS WITH 25,000. NO WAY IN HELL.Comment -

#348why doesn't ur wife want to go? they would let her join the slot clubs with no problem. leaving her behind she'll proly f*ck around on you. "not that i blame her, leaving her for Vegas" i live here. if u really are a winner. and u tip good.
you can get some hot cocktail gal hoocie. but they will want to see ur wins and ur cash. they will eye u and check out ur identity. which needs to be certified winner.
but i suppose u are sending it back to ur sweet petal in florida to bury under the orange tree til u get back home from Vegas bootcamp.
-----------------
anyway. u can only do in Vegas, because there is no other place like Vegas.
--------------
i woke up this morning, and from my bed, placed a wager on edmonton (bodog). cuz atlanta has bad diareeha. i know this because ESPN preview told me this friday night at 10:30pm. and edmonton playing the current role of spoiler. edmonton 5-3/ then i played some blackjack. and won on bodog. not much. cuz bodog can be a hostile Bitch at the table. and i didn't feel like a fite.
then i read up on all sbr forum piks. and "other sports site" piks. and liked matt fargo freebie arizona. (-2).
so for my big bet of the day. i went to the casino. i live nextdoor to. and before i wagered i talked it over with one of my retired buddies. he is at the book at 8am til 8pm. maybe a bit later if he has a first half wager on a late niter.
the book was packed with race bettors today. FULL. screamming and yelling for their pony to come in.
my buddy liked arizona but wanted to teaase them 5 points. so we talked and we talked discussing fargo argument. and stats. . i ate some pizza and then wagered ariz ml.
ariz 87-wash 86.
