Nothing Worse Than an Ugly Waitress that is...

I have been in the industry for 15 years and looks should not be a factor in hiring. Granted, if you ARE ugly, you will need to work it a bit more. I have bartended with HOT girls and bartended with average looking girls with speed, efficiency and personality. I take them ANYDAY over the hotties.

Majority of customers paying for dinner are men. Men are sex driven. So looks do help compensate for a bad attitude to some degree. That being said, the "average" looking girls that rock it have their place in the line up as well... but the ones that don't rock it are the worst and have no business in the dining room and can leave a lasting impression in a customers head.

Zam, I agree with you that the men are the payees. I do notice that if the man is with a woman, if the server is hot, the girl gets jealous sometimes. I have seen hot (and good) servers get smaller tips because the man's date has told him not to leave her so much..lol.

I use to waiter with hot, middle looking, and ugly chicks. I would still prefer working with bimbo hot chicks cuz they bring in the customers with big time money.

Hooter girls are starting to look like trash in my area. They look like street hookers that JJGold would not mind poking his winnie with.

sometimes if a server is too hot it can make the woman feel uncomfortable or start an argument...id also take fast and semi-competent over smoking hot. go to hooters or a strip club or a porn site if you want to look at a hot chick

I go to a restaurant to get great food at decent value .. as a server - I don't give a crap what you look like.

Take my order when i'm ready, keep my drink glass more than half full, bring my food hot, check back once during the meal (unless my drink falls below half) and offer me a "to go" drink .. and you've got your 20-25% tip.

Look cute, say "erm" a lot and let my glass run dry - and you get a dollar - in small change.

Went with my Dad to have an early morning breakfast AT IHOP - The poor girl that served us was missing an eye, had stains all over her clothes and smelled really bad

I gave her a big tip and I definitely feel for her but I did kind of lose my appetite

Here's an idea: If you don't like the overall business practices of an establishment, including its wait staff's aesthetics, don't do business with them. Yes, sometimes it really is that easy.

Clean restaurant, including staff, good food and attentive service is all that is necessary. If any of these is missing, will not go back.

A waiter. I do not get these guys, can they really not find a better job than that.

Nothing worse than being seated at a restaurant only to have some dude taking your order.

In PDW's America, there would be no such thing as a waiter.

i don't care if they're looks are not there... but when they're attitude sucks too, it makes their looks even worse, management look worse, and the food taste worse. I'm not saying a hot waitress that is a bitch is a good combo, but it's better than an ugly one... looks are part of our society whether you partake or not.

My point is all about the combination of ugly and bitchy is simply a lose lose for majority of male customers.

There are few female jobs where looks don't matter at all.

Any waitress, bartender, hostess, dancer, stripper, hooker etc. will certainly benefit from good looks.
