#4You have to be kidding about being surprised. It has been obvious he was one and done for months.
Besides the O Line is graduating. You think Daddy's little boy is gonna play behind a new line? Since that was supposedly the deciding factor in his signing with Auburn in the first place.Comment -

#14He had no choice but to go. What is the benefit of staying? Getting hammered by the NCAA which seems to be inevitable given alot of the evidence that is out there and that the FBI has and is waiting to hand over to the NCAA. There was no doubt he was a goner.Comment -

#17If you think Newton will be better than Mallett in the NFL, I think you are seriously mistaken. Mallett is a big quarterback with great accuracy. I think he'll do great in the NFL.Originally posted by Grits n' GravyLike him better than Mallett and Gabbert. Neither are of them are going to be any better than a Jeff George.

NCAA will mysteriously but conveniently find a shit ton of new evidence and take away a trophy and recognition here and there while counting up all the money they made off of the National Championship game.Comment -

#27In watching these bowl games I must admit as an NFL prospect I am very low on Cam Newton. In that national championship game not once did I think that Cam made an NFL caliber throw. Most of his throws were a product of the spread system in dump offs and screens. The other throws were to receivers that had no one within 5 yards of them and he even missed on a few of those. I didnt get a chance to watch Gabbert that closely but in the games with other NFL QB prospects I came away much more impressed. Luck played a nearly flawless game with a few "wow" moments (still upset he wont be suiting up for my Panthers) and Mallett had a solid game despite not responding well to pressure and his receivers dropping many catchable balls. If I have a choice between Mallett and Newton, I lean Mallett.Comment -

#28The dude is an unbelievable talent no doubt. He makes a lot of plays. He was also in a system that opened up a lot of those plays. I nor anyone else on this board is qualified enough to say whether he will make it in the NFL or not or we would all be scouting for NFL teams. I cant stand the kid. I didnt like him when he stole the lap top and I hate how he made a mockery of the NCAA during the season. It was simply disgusting what happened. The worst part is that this whole time he kept denying and denying and when the truth comes out he will say "Im sorry to all my fans and to Auburn University, I made a very bad decision and yada yada yada yada yada". The kid and his father are snakes and here is my argument to anyone who says he did nothing wrong.
1. Fact he wanted to play for Miss State
2. Fact he had a very good relationship with Dan Mullen
3. Fact his dad had let Miss State know it would cost money to get his son.
4. Fact Auburn didnt try to recruit him til pretty late in the process
5. Out of nowhere he decides to commit to Auburn who was virtually off the radar.
So now his dad is soliciting money from Miss State (the school his son really wants to go to) but not Auburn even though the Auburn alumni have much deeper pockets than those in Starkeville. Also to tell me that Cam didnt know what his dad was doing is simply foolish and given the statement that the "money is too much" lets you know Cam was in on this. Just like Albert Means and every other case the student athlete knew what was going on.
Did his dad get paid? Probably but until there is a money trail its all logical speculation. The kid is a punk and if the Jacksonville Jags waste the 16th pick on him I will shit myself. People like him never live up to the hype.Comment -

#31surprised?
Was there really any doubt that Cam Newton(the son of Cecil Newton Jr.) was going to pass up all that NFL money when his stock is higher than it will ever be and with a potential rookie pay scale being implemented soon?
