    Matchbook down?
Loading Matchbook has always been slow for me, but I have been unable to log onto my account for two days. I cannot get the page to load. I am using IE 6 and Firefox. I have tried using three different computers in my house (all on one network). I have tried turning off my firewall, set my browser security to medium, cleared my cache, and updated my java applet. I do not have pop-ups blocked. I can go everywhere on the internet except Matchbook.

I contacted their CS via e-mail and they gave me some alternate servers to try, but I get the same response from all of them.

Any suggestions from techies in this crowd?

I am able to get on Matchbook with no problems using Firefox. Did you try deleting your Matchbook cookies and see if that helps? I see you cleared your cache, and did some other things.

I am not sure what servers CS gave you, but see if these mirror sites work any better:

If I think of anything else, I will get back with you.

      Thanks for the assistance.

Those were the sites Matchbook gave me. I found that by interrupting the site while it was loading and then clicking the reload button would advance the process a small amount each time. I literally hit "stop" and "reload" about 30 times, and after about 45 minutes I was able to get the entire site to open and log in.

Sure, but 45 minutes to get the page to load?

They've asked for my account name and IP to look into it further.

          Thanks again for your help.

Go to a dos prompt, type "tracert www.matchbook.com" and post the result. That will at least let you determine whether it's an issue with your/their ISP, or a problem with your software/java interpreter.

The tracert results look fine, basically it means that you can connect to their server fine. The problem is thus when your browser tries to load their client (javascript I think). You might try going to http://jdl.sun.com/webapps/getjava/B...&host=java.com and updating your java interpreter.

OK, thanks. I went to java.com and it says I have the latest and greatest version of Java for my operating system.

                          Same problem

I have been a regular user of matchbook without any problems for over 2 years until this past week. Same problem as yours. I've gotten in OK on several days (after many attempts), but it is a frustrating struggle. Matchbook has not been able to solve this problem for me yet.

                            Bull,

Have you recently upgraded to Firefox 2.0.0.13? I believe that was causing my problems with Matchbook. I changed back to 2.0.0.12 and now I am back to normal. Hope this helps you.
