In all fairness, Louisville ranks 5th in adjusted defensive efficiency while Tennessee ranks 24th (which isn't to shabby either out of 341 teams).

Also, Tennessee is the 4th "Luckiest" team in the country.

we're also the most unlucky team to beat memphis this season.

Here you go (look at turnover % under defense column):

Lville's press is for three main reasons. 1) Create turnovers, which they're 156th at. 2) Slow down transition offense. 3) Make offense work harder and thus create fatigue.

The bulk of the DFG% for Lville is thanks to their tough matchup-zone half-court defense. They do a good job of confusing offenses because it looks like they are in a man-to-man but they collapse like a zone. But it really is a zone, which means the free-throw line and elbows will be open. Which is where Tyler Smith will be operating.

Look at Lville's losses this year, it's usually due to a huge game by a small or power forward. In other words, Tyler Smith.

By the way, TN played the hardest schedule in the country.
Please don't tell me what my team does,

your correct, but don't explain to me what a matchup zone and why they use it.

        We will see.

        LT,

        thanks for the stats

It looked like you could use the help. With facts in hand, I would be nervous if I were you too.

              BigGame,

Thank You. I guess I never clicked on the individual teams there before.

              Mofome,

Luck is a Pomeroy stat that measures how teams do in relation to how they SHOULD do based on the predictive stats that he uses. So Luck is in no way meant to be demeaning, it is an objective number. And only three other teams in the country have outperformed their numbers more than Tennessee.

Yes, i have read your posts on this before and checked out the statistics myself. No matter how you care to define it statistically, calling a team lucky is always going to come across as demeaning. It diminishes the accomplishments of a team that only had 3 losses against the #1 schedule in the country.

I think we're in for an entertaining game at the end of this week. Perhaps the best matchup the tourney has had thus far.
